Describe your coach's views on sharing team progress with the public

For Auburn, Gus Malzahn has tried to eliminate all information about the team from making it to the public. He clearly feels like the media is the enemy. "Media Viewing" is limited to stretching only, interviews contain absolutely no relevant information and he treats the press/media as the enemy.
As tJonesy asked on the Auburn board, what level of information would you think reasonable to filter through to the public/fans? Does your coach give more or less than that amount?
ETA***: Obviously, there is information that should stay with the team. This is about general updates and how your coaching views sharing information with the media

this is almost exactly the way Les Miles plays it. the difference is he treats everyone like he's their friend and then answers their questions in a language that no one can decipher.

So True
I like the way Saban handles the media. Tells them like it is

Richt was all about happy talk and it wasn't all that difficult to get info about the goings on, either through the media or leaks in Butts-Mehre.
Kirby seems to have brought the Saban method with him and has all but shut shite down. Sucks as a fan so used to getting info but I think it's better in this day and age as it allows the program to at least project like it has some semblance of control (I think part of the "Richt has lost control" meme could actually be attributed to the seemingly free flow of info whereas as Saban's overwhelming appearance of control has a lot to do with how tight things are with regards to info; perception is everything).

Interesting view of it. I really don't mind holding back info that would provide competitive information. I would just like for Gus to find a way to connect with us as fans.
Fans are interested, fans will be coming to the spring game, and I think he should work on making the fans feel involved without really involving them...
But overall it is what it is and we move on.

I love Coach Saban's frank, to-the-point answers to the media's questions. I'm sure they appreciate the fact that he's direct with them and doesn't waste their time with a bunch of coach-speak and vague euphemisms. I think that he's their kind of guy!

I don't mind having tight control over what goes on. I just wish that our coaches worked with the media to let the fans have continued interest/updates.

Sumlin had blocked off as much access as possible in the past it seemed. Never commented on injuries, very little on transfers (lol), doesn't let freshman speak to the media, closed practices. He's opened things up more this spring, maybe because his seat is hot to change things up, who knows.

Agreed, I love that Saban tells his fans to stfu and eat dicks, and the fans love it. I get his style and think it is great.

It's great but it only works when you have his track record
If you start losing people will turn on you even faster with that attitude

Absolutely, I agree with this.

I think Odom would never talk to the media if he wasn't forced to. This guy is about as old school as it gets.

Les says every year that they worked more on passing and the Oline is great. When he says those things then we will have a bad year

There needs to be communication, for sure, but it needs to be controlled. I think Kirby has done a good job so far of not only playing the good ol Georgia boy role that, well, he was literally born into. He has also done himself a service by issuing a demand that 93K fans show up for the G Day game and then letting the rest of the AD take up the mantle of communication from there.
Best thing UGA has going for it, though, is the video production crew we have: in lieu of all the usual Spring happy talk we're more than used to getting, we can get visual updates that promise nothing but still build excitement for what is to come. I think Richt stumbled on to a real ace in the hole through this mode of high quality production; the images and music strike at the heart of what fans want and spare the coaches form having to reveal anything.
Example: 2016 Winter Workouts video

Yeah, Auburn has provided short videos throughout.

Kevin Sumlin doesn't disclose injuries unless they are season-ending and takes a very adversarial view towards the media.

He tells them to "eat dicks"?
