Is the best defensive player in the SEC, period.

Garrett will be drafted higher but I still think Barnett is better.

no, no he's not.

ETA: He has 2 sacks in 4 games. Both (yes both) against UF.

He has 6 tackles for loss. (that is at least good enough for 4th in the conference)

He has a total of 18 tackles (that's not even good enough for 44th in the conference)

If he's so great how did he not record a single sack vs App State, VA Tech, and the powerhouse of Ohio?

Barnett is amazing. As are the rest of the guys mentioned in this thread. But Barnett completely took over the game in the second half of the Florida game. Unlike MG, he doesn't pad his stats against weaker competition (don't give me the SEC West vs SEC East Division bullshite when MG gets most of his stats against OOC opponents and South Carolina). Barnett plays his best in big games. (you're gonna say "well it hasn't translated into wins Vols suck lol...and to that I say this is not a discussion of the teams but of players). Would not trade Barnett for anyone.

That's because he doesn't have any stats against weak competition.

If he "plays his best in big games" why did UT almost have their arse handed to them against App State and yet Barnett had 0 sacks and 1 tackle for lose?

Well just about every mock board I have seen has Adams as a top 15 pick for 2017. So maybe most analyst are wrong and you are correct.

In 17 career SEC games, Barnett has 30 TFL and 19 sacks.

For comparison, Myles Garrett has also played 17 SEC games. He has 18 TFL and 11 sacks in those games.

You answered your own question. App State is not a big game Against UF, a division rival, top 20 ranked team, and a "big game" he had 5 tackles, 3 TFL, 2 sacks, pass deflection, and countless QB pressures.
