The guy becomes the champ, bama already wants to claim it as their own. I'm not surprised.

Like a lot of boys growing up in Alabama, Deontay Wilder wanted to play for the Alabama Crimson Tide when he got older. It didn't work out that way

but he still intends to bring a championship home to Tuscaloosa -- not a college national title, but the WBC world heavyweight boxing championship.

quote:

"I going to put Alabama on the map when it comes to boxing, period ,” Wilder said. All over the world. Now when I go to another country I don't have to say sweet home Alabama. Now they know who the champion is and they know the champion is from Alabama.”

He needs to beat Wladimir Klitschko if he wants to call himself a real champion.

What's wrong with having state and local pride? Guy is from T-Town.

He has legit power but his career is very limited and he makes lots of mistakes that would cost him versus a good fighter.

Because nobody would cheer for a famous local athlete except a group of dumb rednecks

VK is a superior fighting tactician but has a questionable chin. He would beat DW in a 12 rounder but DW stands a chance at knocking him out.

This thread and the responses from Auburn fans are shocking and totally unexpected.

Yeah man it totally sounds like the University of Alabama is trying to claim Wilder's championship.

I don't know man. Most die hard college football fans love the city their favored university is located in too. I don't think it's that weird to be excited about a local accomplishing something huge. He also makes it very well known how much he loves Tuscaloosa, so it's cool for most UA fans too.

(Why the shite did I actually type this explanation out)

Sorry that our city is an actual city whose residents care about it and love as opposed to a planned town built to mirror a lilly white suburb. Guys like Wilder love tuscaloosa and rep it 24/7.

Deal with it brotha
