How has each team done in regards to defending their opponents?

Texas A&M vs. UCLA:

A&M allowed 343 yards passing, 125 yards rushing and 468 yards of total offense.

UCLA averages 310 yards passing and 131 yards rushing.

Texas A&M was below average against the pass and overall while slightly better against the run based on UCLA's averages. It should be noted that UCLA ran for 13 yards in the overtime.

Arkansas vs. Louisiana Tech:

Arkansas allowed 212 yards passing and 79 yards rushing for a total of 291 yards against Louisiana Tech.

Tech averages 347 yards passing and 183 yards rushing.

Arkansas held Louisiana Tech far below their passing, rushing and total yard averages.

Prairie View A&M isn't FBS, but A&M held them well below their averages, as they should.

Arkansas vs. TCU:

Arkansas allowed 377 yards passing and 195 yards rushing for a total of 572 yards for TCU.

TCU averages 356 passing and 215 yards rushing for a total of 571.

Arkansas allowed slightly more passing and held TCU under their rushing average with their yardage being average. It should be noted that TCU had 13 yards rushing and 17 yards passing (false start penalty) in the first OT and 4 yards passing and 1 yard rushing in the 2nd OT. Factoring those out, TCU was held below their average in passing and total yards as well as farther below their rushing average.

A&M vs. Auburn:

Auburn had 163 yards passing and 236 yards rushing against A&M.

Auburn averages 194 yards passing and 261.7 yards rushing.

A&M held Auburn below their season averages in passing, rushing and total yards.

Arkansas vs. Texas St.:

Arkansas allowed 83 yards passing and 22 yards rushing for a total of 105 yards against Texas St

Texas State is averaging 261.5 yards passing and 64 yards rushing for a total of 325.5 yards per game in 2 games.

Arkansas held Texas State to a third of their normal passing output and nearly a third of their rushing output for a total output of 1/3rd of their averaged offense.

Easily A&Ms defense is head and shoulders above Arkansas

Arkansas gave up 100 total yards more to TCU than 0-3 Iowa State did? wow.

La tech and Texas st shouldn't even be mentioned. It will come down to the better offense.

Aggy is much stronger defensively with an improved run game from last year.

This coupled with stability at the quarterback position = 2 score win.

Objectively speaking of course

The Arky players are working hard this year, but they could very easily be 1-2 with losses to both TCU and La Tech.

They could play really well and somehow beat A&M, but these kids just don't seem talent laden like last year's team.

Other than maybe RB (since Whaley hasn't played much yet) the talent level is basically the same.

You played LA Tech's backup QB, their starter has played their last two games so including their averages is kind of ridiculous

Yards per play & yards per carry are better stats because they equalize comparing team who face more/less drives.

The whole premise is flawed because you're looking at averages for three games, and one of those games is the one you're comparing it to. And, in PV's case for example, PV played two bad FCS schools and Texas A&M, so of course A&M held them well below their averages when the other two opponents were Texas Southern and Alabama A&M.

Your improved running game is playing into Arkansas strongest run stopping DLine
which returns intact. Bama or LSU neither had 100 yard RB's against this dline
which returns and adds Sosa Agim, Austin Capps. We too have a QB that knows are system since he grew up in it and has been a gamer. Aggies this will be a better game than you think! Arkansas will easily be the best team you have played and we are bringing 40000 fans with us.

No doubt. Should be a good game. I think Arky wins. AGs have no shot
