They were trying to do this:

In his last year at Bama (2012), Milliner was a shutdown corner...opposing teams may have thrown his way, but they didn't have much success...he was tied for first in the nation with passes defended (22) that year. And in the BCS game against ND, Golson threw at him a lot, but with very little success...I recall Herbstreit asking several times that game why ND kept throwing at one of the best cover corners in the nation, especially since they weren't having any success when throwing his way.

No matter what he does in the NFL, it doesn't change the fact that he was a shutdown corner in his last year at Bama...

Both he and Dre Kirkpatrick were call shutdown corners, but Milliner had 2 INTs his Sr year and Dre had 2 INTs his entire career. Both were good against the run, but if you look at the SEC during that period, there were very few passing QBs.

IYO, why do you think LSU struggles so much with these overrated Bama players? Two of the last four matchups have been total blowouts in favor of Alabama. This past year with our least talented team in years, LSU still couldn't come up with a W.

Maybe we are too hard on UGA. LSU is the true Underachiever U.

Damn every check in that picture went to a bust except Eddie.

DJ Fluker a bust? Played in 31 games, started 31 games...don't see how he could be considered a bust...

Blowout?

Was never a runaway game, LSU was leading in the 4th the last few games. Last year went to overtime.

Easy, LSU defense became highly predictable. Saban and the rest of the country knew what Chavis would scheme in final 2minutes.

INTs are not the be-all end-all for DBs...the guy who led the NCAA in INTs last year (14) was drafted in the 7th round...and Darrelle Revis had the same number of INTs in his last year at Pitt...and no, I'm not arguing that Milliner is in Revis' class (he's not), just showing that number of INTs does not necessarily correlate to coverage ability...

Passes defended is a more respected stat for corners and Milliner had those in spades while at Bama.

It's going to be funny when the same thing happens with Steele instead of Chavis. You are kidding yourself if you think Steele will be anywhere near as good as Chavis. Spoiler alert: he's not. In fact, Steele wasn't even our best linebacker coach under CNS.

That is why I thought both Milliner and Dre were question marks at the next level. During their playing time, the only NFL caliber passers they played against were Cam, JFF and maybe Murray and Mettenberger. Bama's secondary has been given more credit the last five years due to that competition, we saw what happens to it when they play a passing Offense the last two years.

Soooooo you start a thread about a Bama player, a TAMU fan responds with a similar tale of an LSU player and HE is the one obsessing?

That's four drafted NFL qbs. How many do you think the average drafted CB faces in CFB?

4 QBs out of 39-42 Played. Of those drafted Cam might be the only real starter of the bunch. My point is the SEC was not a QB league during that period. Who were the QBs that Millner and DK got interceptions against ?

They played the same SEC teams that the other SEC teams played. Were the other DBs in the league not tested either? Maybe the SEC didn't throw it around like the Big-12 or some of the west coast teams do, but it's ridiculous to think that NFL scouts aren't aware of the quality on the competition each prospect faces....imo, your analogy is flawed.

Only LSU fans root for other teams players to fail in the pros. Pathetic.

Hell, we tried to bribe the NCAA to give him 4 more years of eligibility, but sometimes they have to move on.

Don't worry though, Flukers pay is being put to good use with our current starting LT.
