#21 LSU - 31
#2 Tennessee - 20
They haven't been a legitimate contender for anything other than second place since then.

Chavis with one of the worst coordinated defensive games OAT on that fateful night.
Disastrous 2nd half by VOLS that night and we still haven't recovered.
ZERO excuse losing that game.
John Henderson (Outland winner) and Albert Haynesworth at DT and dumbass Chavis could not for the life of him stop Matt Mauck from gaining 20 yards a pop on QB draws.

Mauck was 2nd string too.
We know. After Mauck the backup curse began. For years, the absolute worst thing that could happen to UT was for the other team's QB to get hurt. We could be way ahead but if that happened we were doomed. Hell, it even extended to star players. Key player go out with UT up? Game over.

Even though I've posted that photo myself dozens of times, it honestly never gets old.

Also LaBrandon Toefield got injured early in this game as well, LSU was playing their 2nd string QB and RB.

And Ole Miss is still waiting for theirs to begin.

It was a really great 10 year, 1 month, and 1 day run for the program

Yet LSU as of 12/7/01 was still a much more accomplished program than Ole Miss is to this day despite 15 and a half extra years
