Groza is typically a lifetime achievement award.

Gonzalez is the NCAA career leader in FGs and had an incredible season

Gonzo- 23/25 went 7-9 from 50+ with 59YD long

I'm not sure it's a good thing when the kicker is the best player on the team

Carlson got robbed. JK Scott didn't even get invited to the Ray Guy. Minkah Fitzpatrick wasn't even a Thorpe finalist. Just because Robinson, Allen, and Foster won awards doesn't mean there should be a limit per team.

I've been saying for weeks now that everyone has been ignoring Zane Gonzalez. He set the all time record for FGs and hit 7/9 from 50+. And those 2 misses were his only 2 misses on the season.

Carlson's a stud and has been since he's been at AU...he's the best kicker in the SEC...but the ASU kid's stats are just downright insane...

They ought to stop giving out the award. What that kid has done for three years is inhuman. I have often wondered how Auburn has consistently had a FG kicker that is at the very least solid and dependable, and usually is in contention for awards. Meanwhile, Alabama, the recruiting cyborg, struggles with the position. I don't need a Lou Groza finalist. I just need a kicker we can count on inside 40 yards. We haven't had that for ten years. WTF?

I don't think I've ever seen some kick a ball as far and with such ease as Daniel Carlson. He booms it every time he kicks it.
