Only blemish ZG had on his resume was a missed XP during the first game of the season.

Carlson should have won it.

Confusing since he had a net higher than the OSU punter, and half his punts went over 50 yards.

They favor directional/coffin corner styles over a big leg, being able to control your kicks.

He set the all time record for FGs and hit 7/9 from 50+. And those 2 misses were his only 2 misses on the season.

How many of his FGs were in mile high stadiums?

They gave it to the ASU kicker as sort of a lifetime achievement award.

Very bullshite IMO.

It's like when JK Scott didn't win the Ray Guy 2 years ago because they didn't want to give it a freshman.

Lots of bullshite politics in these awards sadly.

Not that a Bama fan has much to talk about good kickers, but Carlson didn't even have the best FG % in the SEC. That goes to Wunderlich of Ole Miss.

You know 2 of his 4 misses were blocks that weren't his fault right?

They robbed him his freshman year, no doubt.

OK, but Wunderlich only missed 1 FG all year.
Was that blocked? Were any of the other top kickers' FG s blocked? I don't know.

As an LSU fan I don't have a dog in this fight, but I can tell you I'd pick Carlson every day and twice on Sunday if I needed a game winning kick.
