I agree with Holgorsen 100%. It's absurd that teams in the same conference can go almost a decade without playing each other due to the eight game conference schedule. I mean Alabama and South Carolina haven't played each other since 2010. It doesn't even feel like the two schools are in the same football conference. The SEC needs to go to a nine game conference schedule.

Obligatory

Also, Saban agrees with him.

Not all power 5 conferences are created equally

Not all power 5 conferences have the same number of teams

Not all power 5 conferences have the same number of BYE weeks

If you look at it in terms of NFL talent- There are really only 4 power conferences

When over 44% of your conference schedule consists of Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, and Texas Tech, you don't get to bitch about other conferences.

That's basically a guarantee of, at worst, a 4-5 record...unless you're Texas.

Nobody is stopping you from scheduling whoever you want. Florida plays FSU every year, along with Miami every 4 or 5 years. Keep your 9 game schedule our schedule is good enough to make the playoff already if we ever get good again.

The only 9th game that matters is the one in the Georgia Dome.

If we wanted to play the conference more often, then we shouldn't have 2 divisions of 7 teams. But since the point is to get the 2 best teams to match up during the season, we have the current format and it works.

I don't understand the gumps fascination with a 9 game schedule. If you want to play more east teams, give up your automatic UT win.

While the few good Big 10 teams would still find a way to make it where the few good teams get to skip one of the few good teams every single year. The motive is there for the Big 12 too.

Or just have the SEC petition the NCAA to get the Roommate Switch schedule approved and it addresses it more successfully than 9 games in conference. Also, frick it... get rid of cupcakes... no FCS opponents for FBS teams if it's that big of a deal... There will be a lot of demand for games against Iowa State, Texas Tech, and the like...

I don't pull for Tennessee, but if they ever did beat Alabama with Butch as the head coach, the reaction by their fanbase would be more epic than words can describe.

And best of all, Butch would make sweet, tomato face, lesbian love to Saban. And invite the band to play while he did it.

He's absolutely right.

The SEC scheduling sucks.

Only two of the Power 5 conferences have a 9-game conference schedule.

Not surprisingly, those are the only two conferences to get left out of the playoff.

The B1G has a 9 game schedule and has not been left out

And yet he thinks it okay for his beloved conference to play by different rules (a CCG despite no divisions).

I like how people say that as if any other East opponent wouldn't be an automatic win as much as Tennessee is.

No one is stopping Alabama from scheduling 10 real games.
