Hate to break it to you, but that move was invented a LONG time before Nick Saban or Hugh Freeze sat foot on this earth.

Anybody involved in ANY activity that draws public interest releases potentially bad news on a Friday afternoon and preferably one that also has a holiday on the other end.

That's pretty much PR101.

As to the Wolken and Neuheisel quotes, the fact is that neither of them actually know more than any random poster on tRant. They're both guessing just like the rest of us.

Well, you might be right but those pesky open records laws would have a serious problem with that position.

If you're OM, you're either going to release them up front or you're going to get sued, have to release them anyhow, AND have to pay both your and the plaintiff's attorney fees (and possibly fines).

I thought a law firm in Birmingham was the reason they didn't have respond to open records requests about the initial NOA from the NCAA?

Wolken has hated Ole Miss since his days covering Tiger High for the Commercial Appeal, pretty common for him.

Dear god you let the trolls get to you for your internet reputation. It's the rant. Understand where you are. You are never going to please the "Dem cheatin bearz" crowd. So stop being a "good" OM fan and say what you want to say.

I can't tell if you're trolling or not. If you think we got Tunsil without any sort of cheating, you are wrong. Literally every major program is doing it. I'm not saying it's just us.

The only problem here is that the NCAA doesn't have to prove OM cheated. OM has to prove they didn't do watever the NCAA says they did in the NOA.

So why throw Little in the mix? Like we blatantly cheated to get Little in the midst of an investigation? And collapsed on signing day? You are agreeing with the "Dem Cheatin Bearz" growd on the rant so they will call you level headed when your not, you just want them to like you. It's kind of sad actually.

If they are going to punish a program that causes them to lose money, they better unless they want to get sued. That's what happened with the whole Masoli situation in 2010. The NCAA ruled him ineligible for seemingly no reason and two days later after Ole Miss threatened to sue them for it, they overturned their ruling.

A five star recruit from Texas that is the number 2 player in the nation. We didn't get him by just selling him Ole Miss while Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama and other programs were throwing money at him in addition to selling their program. It's common sense.

So you are just guessing? The fact he could come in and replace a (at the time) top 5 pick and be a 1st round pick in 3 years isn't a possibility. You don't know. You are just toeing the party line in the rant to keep your reputation. Which is weird for the most trolled website on the Internet. You just look like an idiot. But carry on the "good" fight I guess. Don't really understand your end game.

Yeah, got him through totally legitimate means.

It's a public institution that owes transparency to the taxpayers of Mississippi. Most schools have it out in the open from the beginning but OM has used lawyer tricks to keep it hidden as much as possible. While at the same time publicly proclaiming a desire to tell everything.

Yep, sort of like how State played the whole Redmond affair? You may want to look up the old glass house saying there Bubba. Long story short Ole Miss is doing basically exactly what every other school has done when they have been in this situation.

Nailed it Henry! I basically laugh at anyone, except the 2 Vandy fans, who wants to come around saying that their team is as pure as driven snow. I am not saying it's right but "it is what it is" in the SEC.

No. They didn't have to turn it over because doing so could hinder their ability to investigate he allegations and respond. The fact that it went to their lawyers did not change a thing,
