It is becoming more clear why we are progressively going to hell in a handbasket. I guess it just shows how differently people have been raised. Some were raised to show respect, others not so much.

I didn't say I wanted to shoot him. Nice to know that's where YOUR mind is at, though. Not very American of you.

That flag represents people being able to have the freedoms we have. That flag represents the men and women who have fought and died for these rights. But it's ok to disrespect that? Using the logic that the flag is just cloth....the Constitution is just a bunch of words.

Shooting the flag?

I pray that this is your (very poor) attempt at wit and that you aren't really this stupid.

Some haven't been raised. They're animals and often their own parents hate them. Natives of leftists regions of the country, their parents weren't/aren't allowed to punish them, thus they became defacto wards of the state. "Raised" by secularists who are intentionally bent on destruction.

I'd rather you shoot at the flag than someone that doesn't care about the flag.

Initially I meant target practice as in knees to nuts, but hey...shooting works.

I mean, like someone else pointed out...if the flag is "just cloth' then the constitution...as well as our laws...are "just words"....so these same idiots that say our flag is just cloth should also support our right to shoot anything/anyone we want since laws are just words.

They think they can have it both ways and do not understand the hypocrisy of their actions. Or if they do, they are too arrogant and ignorant at the same time to give a frick.

ETA: And now this thread is wandering into the poli board arena.

That's what the flag may represent to you, but it doesn't necessarily represent that for everyone. To some, it represents oppression, colonialism and a disregard for the rights of some over the rights of others.

I have always stood for the Anthem, however, I respect the constitutional right of free speech of those that do not.

I see the flag sort of like the cross, a symbol. It's dangerous to put symbols above what they represent.

I try to focus more on the actual values and less on the symbols.

I think a good 90% of the time it's people just trying to be cool or a badass because they think it's going against the standard. I'm no psychologist but I think they have some sense of embedded inadequacy that others of us do not have.

So, I just feel sad for them basically- or laugh- depending on the mood I'm in.

So I guess these articles (one of which is from veterans) don't mean anything?

SI article

US vets thoughts on protest

The flag in fact does represent freedoms, and one of them is freedom of speech, protest. His exercising of that right is why they went to war and serve this country. I wonder if many of you are as mad when you see a fellow [insert SEC team] fan not standing, or removing their hats, or not standing at attention, or continuing with their conversations. Do you approach them or speak ill of them?

When did this country become the land of having the same opinion as me or get out? We all have different views based on our experiences. I can't look at another and determine what their view is because I haven't shared their experiences.

inner city folks without much education are lied to constantly by their leftist overlords

e.g., the kid who did the video saying he was going to do something to Trump if he got the chance because he'd been told "Trump took away my mama's food stamps." True story.

the simplest form of propaganda - lie your arse off to people who have no recourse but to believe the lie

But if the flag is just cloth, then it represents nothing. That's the point. The flag does have meaning.
