Dabo poor clock management...

Now we know Clemson didn't get the onside kick, but it wouldn't have mattered with hardly any time on the clock. When Alabama got that last first down, he should've let them score. He would've had close to two minutes with a timeout when receiving the kickoff.
Baton Rouge people, do yall remember a few years ago when Parkview did that to Redemptorist (let them score) and ended up winning the game in the playoffs? One of the best games ever, I think Parkview and Redemptorist played twice that season, and both games went to OT.

What frustrated me was even though the clock was still running at the end of the first half he still didnt need to take the last timeout there was time to spike it

Or hold them to a field goal and they are going for two when they scored a TD to put it into overtime. Dabo played it right and almost stopped them.

No, stopping them and forcing FG keeps it a one score game.

If they spiked it they still wouldn't have had enough time to run two plays.

You never willingly go down 2 scores.

What was Redemptorist's running back's name? Grimes or something?

Odds are you don't stop Henry in that situation though, or that would've been my thought process. Obviously not a college football coach, but it just seems Henry always finds a way in that situation. I guess I'm just a numbers guy.

I don't think so, I think grimes was right after Jay and I played with Jay at Southeastern from 06-08, so that would've been too early. Want to say Jonathan Green or something like that.

nah there was a lot of confusion going on and it seemed like Watson wasn't sure what was going on (since the refs screwed up). Taking the timeout was the right decision.

That is the problem...when he called timeout, he should have been able to challenge the clock. Horrible officiating with the clock.

While I agree generally speaking, Alabama ended up with 1st and goal from 3 yard line at the 2 minute mark. They werent going to stop them 4 times from inside the 3, so might as well put the ball in your hands with 2 minutes left instead of just 1 minute left (or possibly less) left.
Clemson's TD drive lasted just 55 seconds, so if they did that could have had another minute to put a game winning drive together had they got the onside kick.

Well, they nearly did. That was one hell of a goal line stand. Seeing how close they came to stopping them, I can see why Dabo had confidence.

You don't let bama score a td there and make it two possessions. If bama kicks a fg Clemson would still have a sliver of hope instead of hoping for a miracle of getting 2 possessions below two minutes.

I guess you could bet on a turnover or missed/blocked field goal, but none of those are very likely.

Touchdown + 2 point conversion = one score = 8 points.

I kind of get that one. He was freaking because they did not stop the clock.
That one was on the refs. They cost him the timeout and still did not get the clock right.
