My dad knew a gay guy that played running back for the Bear back in the 70s. He said Bear kicked him off the team because of it. The man later developed AIDS and passed.

I know he coached when Dwayne Rudd was there and he was gay according to another player

I don't think anyone here doubts that there are gays in football. Nothing new here.

He played with a lot of gay players at Alabama. As repressed as the south is in general due to religion, I'm sure it is more rampant in the SEC than you think I would imagine.

Not true. Everybody knows that homosexuality takes away a man's football ability. Even if it didn't, you can't play football in high heels or with a penis in your mouth. Because that's what gayness is.

well if we're being honest every player has probably played with gay players over the history of college football.... it's just a numbers thing

Back in the day, straights and gays had a deal like George Costanza and The pigeons. It was an understanding.
You pretended you weren't gay, and we pretended we didn't care. You could be flamboyant even, and nobody would say a word as long as the tacit agreement was honored. That's just the way it was handled.
And of course if you came out, you were crushed and all bets were off and 57 guys lined up to make your life miserable and bully you.
Time to bury that era. Just be free bros. Freedom is good.
