The Gators are coming off yet another successful campaign. In addition to going 52-18 overall in 2015, they reached the College World Series semifinals, where they dropped a tough contest to eventual national champion Virginia. UF welcomes back a plethora of key cogs from last year’s club, including premium pitchers Logan Shore and A.J. Puk, hard-hitting JJ Schwarz and electric outfielder Buddy Reed, among others.
While the Gators lead the charge out of the Southeastern Conference, the league is well represented in the Top 25, as usual. The SEC leads all conferences with seven teams ranked, including fellow SEC Eastern Division foe Vanderbilt at No. 3., Texas A&M at No. 4, LSU at No. 7, Mississippi State at No. 15, South Carolina at No. 17 and Arkansas coming in at No. 25.

I'm very surprised we didn't crack the top 25. We will in due time, though, it doesn't matter.

Unfortunately I agree...too many questionmarks....pitching will be excellent though!

Chad Holbrook is officially on the hot seat.
That has to be our lowest pre-season ranking in nearly two decades.

If Zack Jackson transitions well as a starter we might be able to make a run at Omaha again. He's so valuable in his role as a long closer I'm not sure he should switch though.
SEC stacked. Could have 4 to 6 hosting this year. 3 national seeds? Maybe.

No, let's not go too far. We were 21st in one of the preseason polls last year.

Niche sport IMO
Do you think people talking about a so called niche sport care about your opinion that it is a niche sport?

I agree, but I'm not holding him to winning a CWS or even making a CWS this year. He damn sure better make Super Regionals though.
This team has more pieces than we did last year. Last year we were meh on everything pitching, fielding and hitting. We recruited some stud hitters this year and some great hitters never got in the lineup last year b/c of older guys on the roster. Fielding has also drastically improved from what the field scouts said during fall ball. I got to think our pitching has improved b/c we have recruited MLB level talent for the past 3 years at the P position. Wil Crowe is out again this year though, so that takes away a guy who was a lock for a weekend starter. I think we have good relievers and closers in place though. There will be plenty of competition for the weekend starting spots.
