For those four participating members of the conference, and good luck BTW ... there is an excellent app available to follow everything.

This may be the first time I can remember where the brackets are actually set-up so that four SEC teams could advance to the final four. The odds against that happening are probably large, but at least the chance is there and I hope it happens - it would be good for the conference.

Best finish ever by the SEC? 1-2-3 in 2011. SCAR-Florida-Vandy ... and the SEC did not lose a game in Omaha that year to an out-of-conference foe. Also, the CWS MVP and the entire All-CWS team was comprised completely of players from the SEC ... the SEC East.

That accomplishment could be bested this year, although not by one division, but certainly by the conference as a whole.

Good luck to all four programs. Try the app. It's free and it is excellent.

1997 was very close. Championship game was LSU/ALabama. 10/11 of the all-CWS team was from LSU/Alabama. There were 4 SEC West teams total in Omaha.

I remember that year very well ... it was a dominating year for the West, no doubt. Auburn and MSU represented that year as well.

MSU and Auburn both got there via away regionals.

Stanford defeated Auburn in G1 in Omaha and later I think Miami beat MSU, or was it Alabama? Then Stanford eliminated Auburn. So there were three non-conf losses in that one.

LSU had Brandon Larson that year ... kid was a helluva college talent - could knock the cover off the ball and was not a bad infielder, had a cannon for an arm. It surprised me when he did not fair well in the minors or majors. Guess he couldn't hit a breaking ball.

Come to think of it, that entire '97 LSU team could knock the cover off of a baseball. What was your 1st baseman's name ... Peters? No, wait, that was our 1st baseman's name. But it started with a P .... dammit. I can still picture that kid in my head.

'97 was Ray Tanner's first year at SCAR - I remember him talking about how well the West was represented and how much work the East needed to do to catch-up.

Says it right in the subject line ... CWS NCAA

It actually has been updated this year ... it's nicer than the past couple of years.

You know how some of the flagshippers can be some times.

You're about to be quoted a track and field number I suspect.

Still yet, good luck to all of the SEC programs. I've got my favorite but I hope it's an all-SEC semi-final.
