Could UGA be handling this coaching transition any worse?

Both Smart and Pruitt currently working for Saban, and they just hired Jim Chaney as OC... tried to keep richt in an administrative roll, but he immediately leaves for a P5 job...

I think KS is a good hire and has tons of potential as a head coach, but these first two weeks are just weird.

Not quite as bad as AU's dc situation. So embarrassing.

Players still getting arrested, everything is status quo there.

Yes they could be handling the coach transition worse. They could have publicly tried to hire a coach, had him turn them down, then have the governor tell them they had to keep Ricth and his staff after leaking to the press he was gone. The scenario would be enhanced by fans chanting, players carrying him around (some would then say his players carried him for years). But that is just fantasy because it never really would happen.

Has the head coach had a press conference from Tuscaloosa to address these recent arrests?

You're post will be called a troll and UGA fans won't address it but you make some solid points.

I'd be a little pissed if it were our coach staying there while Pruitt slams UGA on the recruiting trail.

Our coach is currently hosting official visits in Athens.

It's shocking how some people still don't understand how this works.

They could have hired Gus? Then, they'd look like some assholes.

Oh, I know.

Just seems like he could better use his time putting together a great staff at UGA and recruit constantly for you guys instead of trying to win another natty at Bama.

Pretty sure you can still contact recruits, just no visits.

I don't know, just seems like you guys would want him totally focused on the future of UGA.

A coach can still recruit during the dead period... You just can't have any in-person contact. Not that smart couldn't do that in Alabama.

I remember people laughing at the Mcelwain hire for UF. I remember people concluding that Gus was a coaching God when he went to the Natty. I remember a few Tide fans wondering if it was time for Saban to go after he lost to Ole Miss this year.

Point is nobody knows truly how any of this will work out from one year to the next. Why try to make a statement about something you have no clue about? Maybe Smart will be the next Saban.....or the next Muschamp. I personally hope for the latter but who the hell knows at this point?

That would be nice, but I agree with his reasoning for staying. A few weeks of him being strung out trying to work two jobs isn't a big deal for us in the long run.

SCAR hired Will fricking Muschamp. There isn’t a worse coaching transition than what happened in Columbia, SC.
