Could Oklahoma screw the BIG XII?

So its reported that Oklahoma is staunchly against BIG 12 expansion, yet many with "sources" say expansion in the near future is likely.
So if the BIG 12 adds BYU and Cincinnati to get to 12 teams.... what happens if Oklahoma gets mad and bolts for the SEC? Oklahoma State would probably go with them, leaving the BIG 12 with just 10 teams, back to where it was before the addition of BYU and Cincinnati.
This move could potentially water down the BIG 12... losing Oklahoma and Oklahoma State... and replacing them with BYU and Cincinnati.
The BIG 12 would look like this:
Texas
TCU
Texas Tech
Baylor
Kansas
Kansas State
Iowa State
West Virginia
BYU
Cincinnati
That's just barely a notch above the American League... and IMO, it would threaten the BIG 12's status as a power league. This would be the ultimate prank on Texas... essentially leaving them with a bunch of former mid-majors.
Does anyone see this as a real possibility? It seems Oklahoma has flirted with the SEC in the past, and I think the SEC would probably scoop them up if they thought the Sooners were serious. We'd probably prefer another school over OK State, but I would bet T. Boone Pickens would make sure the Oklahoma schools were a package deal.

Yea the big 12 is a solid football and basketball conference at the moment
Losing ou and replacing them with those 2 teams would def hurt

More like their President has been outspoken for expansion for yeaes and one person on their Board just talked to the media saying he was against it.

Actually Oklahoma City is a decent market... evidenced by the fact they have an NBA franchise.
Oklahoma City would come into the SEC footprint as the #14 largest market.... larger than Birmingham (#15), Jacksonville (#16), Louisville (#17), Memphis (#18), and New Orleans (#19).
Tulsa would enter as the #22 largest market... larger than Fort Myers (#23), Knoxville (#24), and Lexington (#25).
While its not Dallas and Houston, those are not small markets. Oklahoma would have a larger television market than any market in the states of Louisiana, Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas, or Mississippi. That's half the SEC right there!

If anyone is screwing the Big XII, it's Texas (with the long horn network).
I don't say many nice things about aggy, but they got it right hitting the bricks.
They just should have brought Okie with them instead of Mizzou... .

If independence is not what they thought it would be and Texas and Notre dame join the big ten, that conference would make a ridiculous amount of money.

This is also what I read this morning.
The fact is that any expansion of the XII will have a negative effect on payouts because there is no one available that adds enough revenue to offset additional payouts. So why would they expand? I'd be against it as well.
And also, OU and OSU cannot blow up the XII by themselves. They would need an additional two schools to defect as well, leaving the conference at six member and therefore unviable. This is necessary to blow up the GoR. If OU leaves alone or with one other school, they leave their television rights in the XII until 2025. They would have to purchase these rights back. Does anyone think a wounded, but still alive XII, led by Texas, would allow OU to get out of these rights reasonably? What if Baylor decides to sue again?
OU is simply posturing. They are really helpless unless tu also decides to blow up the conference.

Oklahoma and OSU aren't splitting up. Oklahoma was ready to leave for Pac 10-16 but that was with OSU and Texas.

It doesn't matter how many alumni or fans OU has in the Metroplex. The SECN will not receive an additional fee per subscriber in the State of Texas than they already receive because Texas is already considered in the conference footprint.
This is the math that must be understood for anyone to have any clue on further realignment.

But the SECN would receive more subscribers, right? I'm sure most OU fans living in Texas don't currently subscribe to the SECN.
