The SEC had never won the softball CWS before 2012 (before 2006 had never had the runner up!). The was the Pac 10/12 dominated sport for most of its history.

Since 2012, the SEC has won 3 of 4 CWS championships plus had the runner up in two of those 4 years. Florida obviously leads the way with back to back titles, but Alabama adds a title and a runner up and Tennessee finished as runner up once.

What a remarkable turnaround. Go SEC.

Good coaching and girls softball has been growing like a weed in the South.

Our baseball park is asked to build a softball program at least 4 times a month.

There are a ton of travel softball teams that have popped up in the South. I remember when High Schools only had slow pitch softball....times have changed...and I look for the trend only to grow. Softball is starting to press against Basketball as the primary girl's sport in High Schools in my area.

It is having a kudzu like growth here in the South. Girl's basketball and soccer are also fairly strong here, we just haven't really poured the financial resources into developing them until recently. I would not be surprised if the SEC women's teams dominate several different sports in the coming years.

The SEC pitching is on another level right now. The PAC is weak at the moment.

Congrats to the Gators on a great year. Looking ahead it looks like the SEC should dominate again next season.
