Just reading this story... Colorado To Pac 10?
Would the Big 12 then try to get Arkansas? Where would the SEC then go?
Heard on the radio the other day about the Big 10 pursuing Texas...doesn't make a lot of sense to me why TX would do that (other than money), but an interesting topic.

No way Arkansas leaves the SEC. SEC=$$$$.

been stated numerous times by our AD and the powers that be -- we would rather be mediocre in the SEC with money than the Big Chump Champion every year with less money. The SEC == PAID

I would like the court to note that Arkansas is on record as saying they are ok with being mediocre.

I would think they would have to go after one of the Utah programs or TCU. No chance that Arkansas goes to the Big 12 with the way TV money is divvied up there.

we are still better in most major sports than Ole Piss. Hope not to lose three straight to Ole Miss and Houston Dale because that would SUCK.

texas isn't going anywhere. they (and a&m) came very close to being in the sec before arky and usce were extended invitations. the texas legislature threatened to cut off their funding if they did so they had to decline the invitation. florida state agreed to join but with outrageous stipulations giving them more than their share of revenue so the sec turned them down. arky was foaming at the mouth and they were extended an invite. i think they have been an excellent addition. usce got lucky, but hell, luck is part of it. i'd rather them than the texas schools anyway. a&m would be much better at recruiting (imho) if they were in the sec.

This is typical Texas. They are dissatisfied with their share of the $$$ they get from the Big XII (even though it is more than practically every other team), so they will flirt with the Big X for a couple of reasons.
First, to get more money from the Big XII (Texas, they are not big fans of revenue sharing, afterall, everything is bigger in Texas).
Second, they very well could be posturing to get the Big XII a bigger TV contract. That seems like complicated method to get a TV deal.
Any other ideas?
By the way, Tuck Fexas.

If there is a major realignment, I think we will see:
Nebraska to Big 10
TCU to Big 12
Utah and BYU to Pac 10
Pac 10 and Big 10 would then have divisions and a conference title game.

Delany: Big Ten hasn't contacted any schools
By Adam Rittenberg (ESPN.com)
Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany appeared on WSCR radio in Chicago on Friday afternoon, and not surprisingly, he was asked mostly about the possibility of league expansion.
His major point: despite the reports and rumors out there about Texas, Pitt or any other potential expansion candidate, the Big Ten isn't talking to anyone right now.
"There were reports a few weeks ago about one institution [Pitt]," Delany told WSCR. "This week, there were reports about another institution [Texas]. I can report to you guys we haven't had any informal or formal interface with any institutions. We're in the process of an internal study, and we'll take those studies and those options and talk to our athletic directors, who then will pass on their thoughts to our presidents. I hope, by the spring or the summer, we'll have an idea of what it is we'd like to try to do, if anything."
So there you have it. Delany has made it a point of emphasis, since the Big Ten publicly announced its expansion study, that the league wouldn't tamper and create a messy situation like the ACC/Big East mess a few years ago.
Although the process is inherently a bit messy and the Big Ten would need to gauge interest from potential candidates before pushing forward, the league intends to go through the proper channels.
He said he called his colleagues in both the Big East and the Big 12 -- and other leagues, presumably -- before the Big Ten made its public announcement in December.
A few quotes from his WSCR interview:
"One of the great things about the Big Ten is we play each other a lot. If you play 30 basketball games or 12 football games and your conference gets too large, you don’t play each other a lot. So it becomes more of a scheduling relationship than it does as a conference with double round-robin basketball or near double round-robin basketball. … The larger you get, the less frequently you play each other."
"Obviously, we'd have to know whether or not somebody was interested in talking to us, but if we were interested in them and they were interested in us, we would give a head's up to the involved conference commissioner. We haven't had to do that because we're not in that stage. I don't know if it's just the social media or the Internet or talk radio or newspapers, maybe it's a slow week or month, but there's so much speculation, and to be honest with you, the reporting on it is not going to win a Pulitzer because the facts aren't there."
"The classic conference will continue to have a pretty significant geographic connectivity to it."
"When the story happened two or three weeks ago about a Big East member and when it happened about a Big 12 member, I know it lights up the lines, I know it's good content, I know it builds ratings, I know it puts the Big Ten out there in a public light. But that's not even a subset of what we're trying to achieve."

TX doesn't need the Big 10 or their money....they make more right now than any other school in the country.

The Big Ten has not talked to any schools -- not Texas, not Mizzou, not Pitt -- NONE.

Just a random question.. if the SEC did have to seek out a new member? Would it have to be a unanimous decision? Could 1 school block the 11 other schools from inviting someone?

But they could make MORE in a conference with a better TV contract. And who wouldn't want more money?

I can't speak for other Arkansas fans, but I hated it when Arkansas was in the SWC with eight teams from Texas. Every team but Arkansas was from Texas. Arkansas left the conference first and the conference eventually disbanded. God looked down and He said, "it is good!". Why the hell would we want to regress and join a conference with four of them now? It makes my skin crawl to even think of it happening! I don't think I'm alone with this opinion. :vomit:
