If you "honor" the head to head, then you have to ignore the fact that PENN STATE LOST MORE GAMES.
It's not that complicated.

Should go back to BCS formula to determine teams for the CFPlayoff.

As long as the two best teams play, does it matter?

They lost by a million to Michigan and got beat by Pitt. They shite the bed.

BCS formula picked the same four teams as the committee all three years
Posted on 1/2/17 at 7:00 pm to BamaELCo
Didn't the bcs formula have been these exact same four teams?

and the same four teams teams would've made it, the BCS had tOSU 2 and Clemson 3, is the only difference

Problem is it was only 1/3 of the process. People forget they also utilized polls for the other 2/3.

Penn State lost to Pitt and to Michigan by 39 points.

The BCS simulations still use polls, using the AP poll since the Harris poll is no more

Ok, get rid of the committee and use a formula like the old BCS to decide the teams.
Same four teams would've been spit out by the computer.

I imagine they thought OSU would be the bigger TV draw, or OSU boosters made a more "compelling argument." Couldn't let a pesky computer get in the way of humans with influence for sale

Bama
Clemson
PSU
USC
Washington
OSU
Michigan/OU/FSU
That's about how the teams line up IMO. Unless I'm forgetting someone.
**And I've been saying PSU was the best BIG team since the committee first released their rankings in case anyone wants to look try my post history.

Clemson would have murdered Penn State as well if they had played them. Bama and Clemson are on another level from the rest of the teams in college football.

Yep. BCS was dmn close. I was always for just taking the top 4 and keeping the human emotion and bias to a minimum.

If not for the vaunted "eye test," Alabama never would have been in the 2011 championship game after failing to even win their own division. So, thank your lucky stars you backed in and had a shot at a rematch.
But, I agree and have always said it. If you don't win your division or conference, you have no business playing for a national championship - unless the playoff goes to 6 or 8 teams and there is a legitimate wild card beyond the P5 conferences.

It doesn't need to be disbanded, but a good "Tweak" is in order...There are some elements that should be really revisited:
1. A lot more weight should be placed on a conference champion. There has to be a real incentive to win your conference. It should almost be an automatic qualification should a team like PSU win the head to head and beat the team that is in consideration.
2. Playing a 13th game should weigh more. OSU got a free pass by not getting a 13th game to be exposed to a loss and key injury.
There are other things, but winning your Conference should be very meaningful.

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree. A 10-3 Clemson team that won the ACC should have been in the BCS National Championship Game over Bama in 2011. After all, they won their conference while Bama did not.
