As mentioned before, with Alabama at 4 it means some had them higher. 7/24 posted an explanation from an unnamed committee member that had Alabama at #1.

[quote]We tried to look at each team objectively, understanding that fans wouldn't agree. This is true with Alabama at number 4. I actually had them at number 1.

The main reason is that Alabama has looked like the best team the entire season. They have dominated other SEC west teams and have not shyed away from tough games out of conference. Some people want to point to struggles against Tennesse but that team is much better than people realize. People don't realize Tennesse has been in every game. Their record doesn't reflect what kind of team they are. They could almost beat any team in the country.

And really Alabama has the best win in the country. They beat Alabama. No other team can say that. The way they beat themselves, in such a dominating fashion is really impressive. Now people will want to point to their loss, but that was to a great Alabama team that played as good as you can expect. I didn't feel like they should be penalized too hard for losing to, what likely is the best team in the country, in Alabama.

Now if you don't mind I need to go get my knee pads before I stop by Nick Saban's office. [\quote]

As much as LSU fans would hate to admit it, he makes sone good points. I'm convinced!

Oh and Beat Bama!

The problem the committee will have now is how far to drop them if they do lose to LSU. Honestly, they should probably be ranked behind Ole Miss if that is the case. They are obviously good, but you have to look at it objectively at this point. They can change the rankings any way they want any week. There is no reason to have Bama #1 with no real justification. If they win out, then you can make that argument. Right now, it doesn't make sense and just exposes you as an assclown or the next Miss Cleo. I understand that a lot of people believe Bama will win against LSU...that's fine. Rank them appropriately when that happens.

It was Paul Finebaum who voted them # 1....some committee member let him do a "guest" pick. Finebaum barely had enough time to vote after his big fricking ears got caught in Sabans arse cheeks.

Meh, nothing to see here. All that has to happen is LSU take care of business and send the gumpsters packing this weekend. Easy peasy - no bama in the playoffs.

I'm sure this sounded a lot funnier in your feeble mind.

David Pollack said the same thing on GameDay last weekend. But he used a lot less words.

Not so fast! You seriously think the committee would give up on Bama if they happen to beat themselves again? Child please, the whole reason the playoff was created was for situations like the double Bama mulligan. The committee is gonna have the reasoning ready to go before the game is even over. The loss would be easily the best loss all season to any team in the best conference which will send Bamas already toughest SOS through the roof. Of course secondly and obviously most important, Bama will still pass "the eye test" with flying colors. Yeap they may not even drop if they were to lose once the committee carefully considers all the critical facts at play.

I'm not sure if LSU fans understand the joy their incessant whining about all things Bama brings to my work day.

If LSU wins, you guys will still be whining about something. That's the same situation we're in now - ranked #2 and whining that Bama is #4. I'll still have plenty of comedy to read during work next week.
