We called up Comcast the other day (the account holder and I) and we said we wanted to voice our support for the SEC Network and all that jazz.

The account holder talked with the lady for about 10 minutes explaining how as valued customers, we would like it to be noted that we were in support of Comcast getting the network bla bla bla. The woman made it clear she didn't understand what we were talking about and said she'd make a note of it and hung up.

Do you think they're intentionally blowing customers off in this way?

I'm thinking it has more to do with the fact that their customer support team =/= their corporate strategy/business development team.

I think the lady you talked to has no power to make a deal happen with the SEC network

Its very possible but I'd think the customer support would at least be briefed about the issue.

You spoke to a $12/hr customer service rep that does not give a frick what you want and has no say in what COmcast does.

Good job.

it sucks to pay cable bills out the arse and you still won't be able to watch the games. but this is the first year so don't expect everybody to carry SECN right away.

Nah, They'll have it but Comcast will be the last people to make a deal. The SEC Network needs Comcast just as bad if not worse than Comcast needs them. They are in more homes than Dish, Directv and Uverse combined and they'll probably get a better deal than those listed..

Comcast customer service reps are mentally on par with single-celled organisms. I'm surprised you were even able to communicate.

Comcast customer service employees are given very little training and are really just there to offer token support and claim the ignorance defense. Comcast's business model is to create monopolies so they don't have worry about little things like providing the product their customers actually want.

Hmm. Comcast customer support doesn't know anything about the "SEC Network"? Wonder why?

The more I hear about Comcast the more I question why I'm still with them. Apparently they are a very liberal company politically that gives a lot of money to liberal candidates and liberal causes and have been instrumental in pushing the liberal agenda through their media partners. The fact that they seem so dismissive almost to the point of outright contempt of their customers in the Southeastern U.S. in regards to the SECN is just another reason to dump them.

Laugh all you want but there is enough out there to turn A LOT of current customers off which could have a big effect on their bottom line.

It's entirely possible the CSR you spoke to is in Sri Lanka, Utah or Walla Walla, so in other words, no, it wasn't intentional.

Let's not turn this into a political thread, but they are owned by NBC, so if your political views influence your purchasing decisions, and you are anti-liberal, then you should definitely dump them post-haste.

That said, they are just trying to get the cheapest deal possible and are holding out as long as they can to get it. They won't actually go into the season without an agreement, but I'd love to see them do it.

Spot on. Comcast support personnel are hopelessly, woefully & totally incompetent. They can't accurately tell you what equipment you are supposed to have, what program package, what you are supposed to be paying or even if there's a line down on your street. I'd rather have a root canal than deal with them & mercifully, I've divested myself of all but their Internet. If ththere's ever a high speed alternative in my area, that's toast too.

The big wigs know what is going on. It is probably a game of chicken to see who will blink first on the price.
