So basically, they decide using whatever criteria they want and decide themselves what matters most. I think Conference Champion will probably be the biggest criticism either way.
On average, how often do you think the SEC will get multiple teams in the Playoffs?
I am genuinely unsure based on the criteria they laid out.
I think Bama will get in regardless based off name recognition and recent accomplishments if they don't win the SEC. They also try to schedule good OOC teams.
However, would a 1 loss Mizzou team be given the same treatment if they weren't SEC champions. They are still in the SEC the toughest conference in football ,but there OOC schedule is like they aren't even trying.
What about a scenario in which a 2 loss SEC team won the SEC but a 1 loss SEC team exist? Do you say screw thew SEC champion, take both, or screw the 1 lost SEC team in favor of someone else?
Does a 9 game conference hurt or help the SEC at all from having 2 teams in the playoffs? (Is the 9 game schedule official yet for 2016?)]
I think it might effect the other BCS class bowl placements than anything.
Using this year as an example, would Stanford and Baylor be left out?
Baylor is a 1 loss big 12 champion be left out. To leave them would pretty much downgrade the conference champion criteria. I'm not sure if thats a good thing or not. I wouldn't blame Baylor fans for being upset for being left out.
Stanford is a 2 loss Pac 12 champion with a 9 game conference schedule. They choked against Utah and obv have 2 losses ,but they have played one of the hardest schedules in college football. The fact they have 2 losses and is equal to Bama in the computer rankings is kinda shocking.
Do you think teams might consider resting players before the conference championship if they feel the last game of the season has no effect on whether they are in the playoffs or not? They rest players in the NFL, why not in College football.
Do you think I am nuts for thinking this before the first 4 teams are selected? Maybe
Why couldn't we just keep the BCS as it is and gone to a 4 team playoff format? Or better yet, why didn't they just make an 8 team format playoff with conference champions and wildcard spots. It would make it much clearer who is going to the playoffs instead of this back-room bs.

I don't think 2 SEC schools will make it as long as its only 4 teams. 8 teams however, I could see 3 making it.

It will be rare to get a second team in. It will be the top four conference champions most years. It was created after Bama got in in 2011 to prevent it from happening again.

True, but I think both LSU and Bama would have made it in 2011. That would have been one of the few years 2 from the SEC would have made it.

They specifically agreed it wouldn't just be the 4 conference champion ,but the 4 best teams. Whatever that means
Bama is at worst, viewed as the 3rd best team in the nation.

Yah 4 teams has all sorts of problems. 8 would solve almost all. The five major conf champs plus 3 at large

Don't agree. The last three years in a row, two SEC teams would definitely be in the play-off.

Correct.

At least once every 3 years.

They will both go to the Playoffs

9 games would help some teams with SOS. Other teams like USC who already play at least 9 BCS teams a year would be helped even more.

Yes.

It would be different for many teams, very situational.

This will be discussed often until we move to an 8 Team Playoff which makes the most sense.

Personally I think it's going to be the top four conference champions most years. As long as those four are in the top 6-7 I think that's what you'll see. Now maybe if you somehow wind up with a 2011 type scenario where you have SEC teams ranked #1 and #2 you could see them both get in over a #7 or so ranked conference champion. Most years though I think the committee will default to conference champs if they can get away with it in public perception. I wish they would've just kept the BCS and taken the top 4. When you look back, the BCS rarely missed the top 4. The committee will open it up to far more subjectivity and personal bias.

I don't think 2 SEC schools will make it as long as its only 4 teams.
Mich. in 2006 is another where 2 from the same conf. might've made it...

This absolutely won't happen. Conference champs have VERY little to do with who gets chosen. Do you really think they would leave out Alabama this year, or three years ago because they weren't conference champions? They will still pick the best four teams.

There's a reason we finally went to the playoffs and it's not to get (2) SEC teams into the playoffs. Think it's a coincidence we finally get it after (2) teams from the SEC made it into the title game?
Just more rigging of the system to make some of the other conferences feel good.
So basically, never.
