I feel like it will be:
1.) Alabama
2.) Clemson
3.) Ohio state
4.) Washington

I feel like it should be:
1.) Alabama
2.) Clemson
3.) Washington
4.) Penn state

I do not believe Ohio state should be #3, and perhaps in the top 4 at all. I think a lot of politics will be seen unfortunately to ensure a #2 Clemson vs. #3 ohio state first round match up and then a guaranteed #1 Alabama vs. Clemson/Ohio st. (Aka $$$ making national championship)

I would really love to see a playoff of 8 teams this year. Imagine:
1.) Alabama (13-0, SEC Champ)
2.) Clemson (12-1, ACC Champ)
3) Washington (12-1, Pac 12 Champ)
4.) Penn state (11-2, Big 10 Champ)
5.) Ohio state (11-1, Lost head-to-head against Penn state, also not a conference champ)
6.) Oklahoma (11-2, Big 12 Champ, lost to Ohio state)
7.) Michigan (10-2, Lost to Ohio state, not a conference champ)
8.) Western Michigan (13-0, MAC champ, why the hell not)

I think Ohio state gets in but there will be uproar over the value of conference championships after this season, likely paving the way for an expanded playoff in the future. JMHO

I really like what you are saying here. I agree that would be something to see. Unfortunately next year is so far away. Buckeyes going to the Rose Bowl vs Southern Cal. Should be an awesome game. Penn State will get the bid. I just threw up saying that shite, as I hate that fricking poisonous fan base. But think about what the experts have been saying all year. The B1G is the best conference this year. The winner of the conference carries a lot of weight. And the other conference winners outside of the Big 12 will be in. And that is fair.

kirk herbstreit thinks PSU gets 4th spot over Washington.

i'm hoping Clemson gets Washington. that looks like a weak team. plus Clemson never plays PAC 10 teams so it wud be different. we already beat Ohio State in a bowl a few years ago.

I don't like or dislike it. It's what I feel the committee will do based on past seasons.

Okay, peepaw. We will see.

Bama will beat Penn State and then Washington for the whole enchilada. Be happy with that. It's a good deal.

I'll be happy no matter who plays. I love college football.

I would not want to be on that committee. They are going to catch shite no matter who they leave out.

i think wut they should do is make it a 6 team playoff, give byes to the top two teams. there is a spot for the 5 conference P5 winners and 1 at large team.

Yeah I kind of agree. They have kind of pigeon holed themselves in with all the talk that conference championships matter.

4 spots, 5 major conferences.

All the talk about how good the Big10 is this year and yet it is likely the BIG10 champ will not get in...

And as someone else stated the committee will catch shite this year from some group no matter what--- no real winning in picking the final four.

College football playoffs discussion Rutgers is a big 10 team so why is the big 10 knocking Washington out of conference

Because the Big Ten doesn't defend the shittiest team in their conference. Nor should they. Down here in the heart of SEC/ACC country shouldn't defend Mizzou either. They are big boys. They can fend for themselves.

The committee will put tOSU in or die trying. They are always looked at with a favorable eye. They bring good ratings and their fans travel and spend money.

Follow the money.

The 2007 Buckeyes played arguably the weakest strength of schedule ever, even losing to an unranked dog. I was surprised when they were put in the championship game until following the money.

I think this year we will see what the playoff committee thinks is more important. They just need to stay consistent . I wonder who would be better for the ratings PSU or OSU.

Alabama and Clemson in the championship again

Don't believe they would want that. What they would want, and so would the Peach and Fiesta bowls, is ACC/SEC and Big 10/Pac 12. Which would eliminate the possible NCG rematch.

Clemson struggled with VT, and Washington blew out Colorado so, IMO, it will be.

1. Alabama
2. tOSU
3. Washington
4. Clemson

Why does Marty Smith feel the need to talk and gestate like a pro wrestler?

This. There are no concrete rules but I'm just saying it seems like they're bending the unwritten rules for a school like Ohio State and wouldn't for non legacy schools.

If there is a power 5 school that has an 11-1 record and a pretty good resume but somehow didn't get into their conference title game they should be considered for the college football playoff. Not just teams like Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma (yes, they would've been if they didn't lose to Houston, I bet they're in over Washington if so), etc. etc.

To me, what would fix this is a six team playoff with the five conference title winners (as long as they have two losses or less) and one at large bid to a team like what I described in the first sentence in the paragraph above.

This is what will happen. tOSU will drop a spot for not winning a CCG. Clemson gets the home unies.

Giving birth on live TV, is he? The answer is ratings. People will tune in for that.
