Frick the Sooners. Do not want them. Bring on Va. Tech/Virginia or NC State.

At the end of the day (ten years from now), I think OU and KU eventually go to the B1G and tu/Tech end up in the PAC.

I think the SEC stays at 14 unless the ACC crumbles for some reason.

There are a few teams that the ACC can lose without too much of a fight. (Va Tech, maybe NC State), but outside that, you are all just dreaming.

The money of the SEC and B1G, compared to the relative pittance the ACC makes, will eventually force the schools that call the ACC home to re-evaluate. If ESPN controlled the entire sports landscape, they could keep the status quo. But what if their choice is letting UNC come to the SEC, or watch them go B1G? ESPN doesn't want to see the Tarheels on the BTN.

If UNC leaves, ESPN would FAR rather they come to the SEC. And as far as preserving the ACC, ESPN can re-do the same thing they did w/ the B12: keeping the total money the same for the reduced membership. That would yield a bump in revenue for each remaining school. Maybe even giving FSU/ND increased revenue, to ensure they stick.

Assume UNC and VT jump to SEC, ACC still has FSU/Clemson/Notre Dame (partial)/Miami/Georgia Tech/Louisville. And Duke/Syracuse in MBB. If the current B12 is a P5 conference, then any group that has the 6 schools I listed is still a P5 conference. And if the ACC can stick as a conference, then there's much less pressure for UNC to stay, because NCST will still have a home.

And speaking of NCST, if UNC still wants to stay ACC, then the Wolfpack is not a bad addition. Not ideal, but they bring a lot for the SECN, and they have an historically good basketball program.

The ACC is safe. No one wants or needs to move.

Now the Big 12 seems to be in trouble.

Thinking the SEC would jump at the chance to add both Texas and Oklahoma. Great match-ups for TV and the fans.

But would Texas ever go to the SEC?

This may not mean much, but tu has always looked down it's nose at the SEC. In Dr. Loftin's book, he even talks about tu's brass threatening A&M that they will never play us again if we go to the SEC, and why we want to be in "that" conference anway? Why would you want a school that has always considered itself "better" than the SEC and above all those "hillbillies and rednecks?" tu sees themselves as a "Berkley" type of school. Seriously, why would yall want them? The cultural misfit would be extreme.

The ACC as a whole is safe, Notre Dame saw to that, but individual schools might look around if they see a much better deal $$-wise in the B1G or SEC. If UNC and VTech can make $10M-$15M more in the SEC, can they afford to pass that up? What if UNC to B1G and NCSt to SEC would net a total of $20M-$30M between the schools? Don't you think the North Carolina legislature would be keen on bringing in that kind of dough?

According to the president of Oklahoma in 2010, both the SEC and the PAC 12 have offered the Sooners to join their conferences. Borden says the reason he did not accept the SEC offer was because Texas and Oklahoma State were not offered and they did not want to go without their rivals.

There are less than 700,000 cable subscribers in the entire state of Oklahoma.

Even if OU's lack of AAU status is ignored it would be a financial hit to every team in the SEC to take OU.

How about not taking anyone unless they are a good fit and also increase the paychecks. Oklahoma fits neither of those criteria.

As far as the Longhorns, the look down on SEC fans and would never join. If they went to another conference it would be the PAC.

OU thinks they somehow deserve to be in a top tier conference despite the fact that they don't have the national following, local talent, or academic chops to earn it the right way. They leach talent from the state of Texas and A&M specifically. frick 'em.

You know you keep loading really good teams in our conference and we will never have another national champion.
Look at Ohio States scheldue for this year.
