No chance. Butch was 2-0 against Spurrier, and is 3-0 against SC. No reason to think that trend is ending anytime soon.

And Spurrier beat us like a drum at UF but not at USC. The common denominator is Florida and the talent they have year in and year out. SC doesn't have that talent.

Spurrier was stupid against UT while he was here, hubristic even, assuming he was going to beat UT without having to do much ... plus the east Tennessee jinx kicked-in on Spurrier about the same time he started reminiscing about his upbringing and all that.
That was a mistake caused by senility.
Two of the recent UT wins were the direct result of shitty defense on our behalf ... Boom's defenses will not be shitty.
I wouldn't worry about it too much either way ... God is a Gamecock. Now that Spurrier is gone, God will make things right on our behalf. It's out of all of our hands.

In all honesty, I do think Spurrier in his twilight started to get a little too emotional about playing Tennessee and it drove him nuts to lose to us (he was gone after that OT loss and never really came back). He was almost too obsessed with beating us to beat us (sort of the way we obsess over beating UF so much it gets in the way of actually beating them). However, what kept USC competitive under Spurrier was always the offense. The defense with Clowney was more of an outlier than anything else and Spurrier could often make up for a mediocre D with a super-charged O but not always.
Muschamp isn't going to have an elite D at USC next year and might not even have one the next. You were playing fundamentally sound defense the past two years but the suckage was due to just not having the talent for the D, especially with a switch from 4-3 to 3-4, and also not having any edge rushers. That's a problem that will take more than one offseason to fix.
Also, Mizzou and Vanderbilt are testaments to the fact that Defense can only take you so far if your offense is inept. The big question for SC and Muschamp is whether or not he's learned anything about putting together an offense.
