Pretty simple, a SEC school or two will be looking for a new HC after this season, just like ever year, but who do you think it will be?

I do not think it will be a big change in the SEC this year compared to years past, really on see one for sure opening that will be decided on the field the last game of the season as LSU and aggy fight it out for 7th place in the West. The loser of that game will have to think long and hard about salary for those results.

So do the aggys think beating Texas on paper and recruitin sites is enough for Sumlin to get another year after this year?

Too successful to be fired
Les Miles
Nick Saban
Gus Malzahn
Gary Pinkel
Steve Spurrier
Mark Richt, and
Dan Mullen

Too new to be fired
Jim McElwain
Butch Jones
Bret Bielema, and
Mark Stoops

Not bad enough to fire yet
Kevin Sumlin, and
Hugh Freeze

In trouble
Derek Mason

I think someone would have to have just an awful season to get fired this year. The coaches that have been around have been too successful to be fired. And the changes that haven't had success are all new.

If anything some team might lose a coach to the NFL or retirement.

I can't see anyone getting fired this year. Maybe someone leaves for another job , only coaches I could see getting fired is Bert or the Vandy coach if either one goes 0-8 in conference .

Thinks a season on the brink pushes SOS to retire. SCU goes back to the wilderness

I think Mason gets another year. I also think that if Sumlin goes 8-5 then his seat heats up but he still sticks around. Les won't get the hook even if he finishes 8-5.

Can't really see anyone at this point getting their walking papers. A better question is who would maybe consider leaving for another job - NFL caliber. I could see a Sumlin hopping on that one if he has a disappointing year for A&M.

He reminds me of the Steelers coach. He seems to have more of an NFL coach mentality. Nothing to do with his win loss college record. Just his overall demeanor.

I would never fire Sumlin if he keeps bringing in top recruiting classes. They'll eventually pay off. Like half the top ten teams in recruiting are inevitably from the SEC, mostly the West, so it doesn't guarantee him success in any given year, but it eventually will. Same non fire rule for a half a dozen SEC coaches.

Who is going to be running after Sumlin as their next NFL head coach if he has a disappointing season again this year?

Quarterback is the most coveted position in the NFL.
Sumlin runs a system that stunts the development of quarterbacks.
?????
Sumlin would make an excellent NFL head coach.

I hope Sumlin stays forever. Same with Richt. The right coach at Ga could make a solid run for the NC every year.

Spurrier is retiring after this year. South Carolina will be lucky to get to 6-6

I remember when Dale used to be above response threads

This is like seeing Montana on the Chiefs or Jordan on the Wizards

Didn't Bielema play at Iowa? I would have to think they'll finally fire Ferentz after this season unless he pulls a 2009 rabbit out of his hat, and Bielema would probably be in the discussion (along with Bob Stoops if this season doesn't go well for OU).
