I've always disliked the idea of a school going after a headcoach at another school within the conference. An assistant coach hired up to a hc, or even a lateral move to another school doesn't irritate me, as these can be promotions, even the lateral moves if the coach is gaining more control of his area.

I started thinking about it as result of the Frank Martin to mizzou crap, but it seems like theres been a lot of intra conference coach poaching in the SEC, more so than other conferences.

I'm curious how you all feel about it

USCe stole Eddie Fogler from Vanderbilt back in the day. I didn't care for it.

I think its fine. It keeps good coaches in the league instead of letting them go elsewhere just because of some artificial limit.

Imagine if Franklin would have gone to UF instead of PSU. UF would be a monster right now.

Imagine if Mullen went to LSU last year! They would be the favorites in the SEC next season.

From many sources, the former SEC commish...sorry, drawing a blank....was strongy against it & when Tubbs was putting his name out every time a league job opened, the commish supposedly stepped in & shot Tubs down. Skip always told the story to alumni groups that Tubs, having left the Black Bears to go to AU, was sending messages to SKip through back channels that he was interested in the LSU job when Saban left. Considering all the turn over in HC in the past decade or so, there really has not been that much of it. Except for Tubs.

thats true I suppose, but on the other hand if a top school goes and grabs an up and coming coach from a smaller program in another conference, then now there is two great coaches instead of one plus whoever the smaller school can get as replacement.
