After listening to Coach Boom break down plays last night for ESPN, who thinks he is smarter than he appears on the sidelines?

Any college coach would seem smart in that scenario. They don't make all that money because they are slightly smarter than the fans.

ETA: Not calling him dumb, but to say a professional in any field sounds smart in said field is redundant.

Yeah Fedora and Taggart really sounded smart in comparison to Boom and Mac

Did you think he's gotten to where he is by having a low football IQ? His situation at UF was amplified by injuries and a couple bad hires. I think he'll be good at USC since they'll actually give him time to gain head coaching experience/work through injuries.

Despite what many fans seem to think, college football coaches know a lot about football.

I thought both Boom and Mac represented well last night.

Fedora and Narduzzi though ... they tried too hard.

In all fairness, a lot of it is due to terminology. Yes, Muschamp knows a lot, but he also makes little effort to "dumb it down if you will. Meaning, I doubt the casual fan knows what 3 technique or being in phase with a receiver.

I didn't even know Muschamp was in that group of coaches talking.

Partly because Fedora wouldn't shut up the whole night. But whenever they needed actual intelligent insight, the moderators asked the two SEC coaches.

Fedora was very good too. He did talk a lot but he knew his business.

Narduzzi was sharp as shite too. His recognition was first rate.

See I don't remember Narduzzi saying all that much, then again having to squint to see the actual game vs the replay guy having a seizure on the main screen was distracting.

He was much more vocal in first half. He is very good though, I can see why his Michigan St defenses excelled.

A different philosophy than Saban however, which I think is why Boom what so insightful, he really knows what they are trying to do.

... or you could have just joined the thread commenting on how great Odom did .... oh, errrr, wait. Odom wasn't invited. Forget I mentioned it, okay?

Sorry. Mea culpa.

Damn, you're right about that.

Maybe if Odom would have gotten fired from Florida or had been the DC of the 13th ranked defense in the SEC this season, he would have gotten the nod. Aww shucks.
