that games from the past indicate what will happen this year?

That's basically the entire basis of the argument that Auburn doesn't have a chance (because they almost beat Alabama).

Trends matter. Ask any betting man.

So, we can safely say that Alabama will beat LSU again this year?

Understood. But the only time a trend matters would be recent past....as in 3-5 years in a row. THAT would indicate a talent gap. But to go back 90+ years to base an outcome of a game is silly. And I actually think it has more to do with how the two teams looked overall last year.

Add to that, that he is basing his OP on outcomes at Jordan-Hare and 3 of the 4 games were not played there....

For me, this could be the most important game of the year for Auburn. If you win....or at least play Clemson close, it could kick you off to a successful year. If you get beat badly it could start you down a bad, bad road. Auburn needs to keep this game close, or win it.

Or the fact that they return 8 starters on offense? Five that were all-conference in the ACC, a RB that rushed for over 1500 yards, and a dangerous receiver in Artavis Scott? And then they're going against a defense that finished 71st in the nation, giving up 403 yards per game WITH Will Muschamp.

You guys are making it sound like Clemson went 8-5 last year. They're without a doubt one of the best teams in the country and will probably play in the playoffs again.
