Our coach went winless in the SEC and the team quit on him.......in year four. He's a great person. He's a great coordinator. He's just not a HC.

all because of Saban's success in Tuscaloosa. Mark Richt went 9-3 in 2015 before getting canned. Think about that.

Richt was fired because we went 10 years without an SEC title (and just 2 appearances) and it was abundantly clear in the last few years that he had run his course. We may have went 10-3 in 2015 but we were a bad, bad football team. Going to overtime at home against GA Southern may count as a W in the final records but it indicates a crystal clear problem with the program.

I heard he's retiring in Auburn. Lord knows y'all have paid him enough to live a very comfortable lifestyle.

While Kirby Smart *could* not be the answer, he sure as hell is at least providing a glimmer of hope. Richt was too comfortable, started making questionable decisions (in-game and program wise), and was too lax on the recruiting trail.

He never sold his house, his kids love it. One is attending Auburn now, the other two are still in Public School.

Our former coaches love Auburn, Tubs is living in the area, Dye lives close by and now Chiz. Even Barfield lived in the area. Only Tater Tot had a problem.

I'm sorry but I can't take this list seriosuly. Our coach is not very good (apparently neither is the whole SEC outside of saban) but you keep ranking Bert above him.

A) Sumlin is 4-0 vs him
B) Sumlin's conf record is 21-19 while bert's is 10-22

Sure Arkansas doesn't have second half season collapses, but they usually aren't even in the race to begin with after the first couple of weeks. Sorry, it just rustles my jimmies to see something that wrong posted twice, it's not even subjective....it's pretty much a fact that Bert has not been as good of a coach if you look at their previous 4 years.

I would have Sumlin above Bert but mostly due to his recruiting ability. Sumlin obviously has much more talent to work with but that is part of the job when it comes to college head coaches.

other than Nick Saban who would you take and be really excited about hiring?

Mason. I'd love to see him get a shot at a school where he can recruit.

Gus clearly has the second best record of SEC coaches currently. He's just busted on a QB two years in a row, and his offense couldn't find its footing IRONICALLY in the years his defense did.

After that... McElwain has won his division twice so he's up there. Crapshoot the rest of the way down.

Literally no Georgia fan is still upset Richt is gone.

When he has Miami humming and Smart is rolling w/yet another 8 win year that will start to change.

You say guilty as if these schools fired the coaches for no other reason than to play catch up with Alabama. All 3 programs had become stagnant, especially LSU under miles. His stubbornness was literally costing us wins, it was beyond time for him to go.

Swap Sumlin and Smart. Bert has never beaten Sumlin and Smart needs to put some skins on the wall.

They'll have a few 10-2 years where people will start to think "Miami is back" but they'll never be quite good enough. His first season at Georgia was promising too. We were just never quite good enough and bringing in Schottenheimer was the final nail in the coffin.

The 2014 Florida game is the one that showed me things weren't gonna change under him. Both sides needed a fresh start.

I would agree with this, but I would substitute the word IRONICALLY with PAINFULLY. I guess it is a matter of perspective.

Like others said, I am not sure where Freeze should go. And Smart may rise quickly.

Personally, I would think Mullen is much better than Sumlin --- but that is just looking at the talent levels involved.

SEC is definitely shite if Gus is ranked number 2. No offense to Gus.

Mullen is the antithesis of Sumlin.

Sumlin has 12 win talent and wins 8 games. Mullen has 3 win talent and consistently wins 7-8 games most years.
