There's been several documentaries but I'm glad they're finally making this story a movie. Can't link IMDBpro but u can go to Morgan Casting's website (production company who released a statement today asking for locals as extras), sign up to read a little about it or I think they've been putting stuff on their FB page about it. Still in early stages. Only casting listed was an actor "Gary Grubbs" credited as Bill Brewer. Brad Gaines character is apparently the lead - preliminary plot says something about his struggle coping with the accident.

Uhm, it's a very sad story indeed but off that topic for a minute, Ole Miss has been trying to get as many movies made about them as possible as marketing, just so you know.

A few years ago I heard OM was pitching movies to be made about this, Archie Manning (as a tear jerker) and another one. I guess the docu "Book of Manning" killed that idea but it's more about bringing attention to OM as marketing what nice people you all are. Sorry to pop your bubble but it's the damn truth.

Kind of think this story works better as a documentary. I wonder if they will go for a religious angle as the only people that know this story are in the south.

Wow... Just re-read the email, Apparently Hollywood is taking some major creative liberties...

From Morgan Casting's email about needing extras (probably on their website too) -

STORYLINE: (Based on a true story) "After a brutal collision between University of Mississippi's star QB CHUCKY MULLINS and Vanderbilt Linebacker BRAD GAINES - Mullins is left on the playing field with four broken vertebrae. The player who sacked him, BRAD GAINES, desperately needs to reach out to Chucky — and in spite of what happened, the two young men become fast friends, and support each other emotionally until the hour of Chucky's death..."

With all these movies being made about Ole Miss and their players, you'd think they'd be a better football team.

The sad thing is, some years ago after the Blindside someome close to OM told me they were going to solicit film makers (even if it meant boosters helping to fianance some of it) to market Ole Miss.

Watch and see that they don't say they were asked instead of the other way around once people pounce on it. I'm sure our pro Ole Miss state media will spin it if needed.

It's actually Brad Gaines who has been adamant about getting the movie made. Nice try tho
