Many fellow Aggies are having buyers remorse considering he can't recruit for shite and most of the top Texas D guys are likely headed elsewhere. I'm weary of Steele on game day, but him and O are terrors on the recruiting trail.

I, for one, accept our new Ag overlords with Chief Chavis at the helm. I've already painted every wall of my house in Ag colors and I've sacrificed my firstborn to Reveille. All hail the Ags, masters of the SEC with the #1 defense, Wrecking Crew.

Just when you thought they couldn't get any more gay, the Ags go and redeem themselves.-Eric Monroe

Probably a good thing to hire recruiting coaches at a program that traditionally struggles at recruiting, with no natural talent base to pull from....................

We got Chavis AND it made LSU weaker, l
The hiring of Kevin Steele AND Ed Orgeron should make the LSU defense overall stronger.

O is a great improvement over Haley as DL coach and Steele will have us putting on more pressure, instead of laying back with the Third and Chavis BS & his infamous late game Prevent Defense BS, that we saw too often.

Just wait Aggy Boys, you'll find out. Chavis will improve your defense initially, but then you'll start to see the weaknesses, just like the Tennessee and LSU people did. He will certainly be an improvement over what you had, but I'd be concerned that his style of defense is not a good fit to combine with the quick and high scoring Sumlin Offense. His low pressure Defenses will be out on the field too much and they'll tire. negating their effectiveness. His Defenses at LSU were well rested because the Tigers certainly don't imploy a prolific "Quick Strike" offensive style like A & M.

Will be interesting to see what he can do, but yall have been forewarned..........

I know you Ags like to troll about Chavis but y'all literally got one of the laziest recruiters I've ever seen at LSU. And by lazy I mean he's pretty much a non-factor on the recruiting trail. He was in charge of LBs at LSU and that has been our weakest position his entire time here.

Chief was "let go" by the Vols, too, for a lot of the same reasons. Over the course of his career as DC here at LSU, LSU lost 7 games on the last drive of the game. And while I'll always respect & give him credit for some of LSU's best defenses ever, his defenses started to slack off the past 2-3 years, much like what happened in his tenure at UT. And as a recruiter, he was/is absolutely horrible.

Will Chief even be in college station in 2017?

The better question is will Sumlin be fired after another 5 or 6 loss season? If Sumlin gets canned I'd expect Chavis to go too.

No top tier head coach will take a job where he doesn't even get to pick his own coordinators.
