Chavis saw the writing on the wall

The more I think about it, it's finally clear why chavis left. He didn't want to be the scape goat for miles. They would have eventually fired him and then miles as well.
It was getting so bad that he even risked the lawsuit to get out. Then you bring in coaches like coach O and Steele then you know desperation has set in.
I wonder if this is one of the reasons saban left as well, I guess it wasn't enough to want to coach in the NFL.

Well one of the reason was the contract language about Chavis's contract being null and void if Miles were to no longer be the coach, so...

It will buy him a couple of years, but he's just as much to blame. Again, I've known him as far back as Alabama A&M. He is not a genius by any stretch of the imagination. I've said that all along and now even (Texas A&M people are starting to realize what I've known for many years.

Chavis and Haley lazy recruiting helped hasten Miles struggles. I agree though, Chavis probably saw the depth issues and bailed.

What are you talking about? We just shut our last opponent out. We've undergone the biggest defensive improvement in the country this year. We're all head over heels in love with Chavis, for good reason.

Chavis left because LSU wouldn't give him a new deal past this year due to the uncertainty of Miles' future. It's that simple. It had nothing to do with money. Alleva started the railroading of Les last year.

False.
Couldn't agree on a contract.
Chavis wanted to be retained if Miles were to leave/fired.
Aleva said frick you.
Chavis said frick you and left.
This whole Chavis deal is the first sign that the administration was done with Miles.

When he flew to Tennessee and offered him more money than A&M?

He flew with Les to try to convince Chief to stay with more money but that was never the issue. The contract was always the same. He wanted his contract to not be tied to Miles' future and that's what made Chief tell Joe GFY.

Isn't LSU still better than aTm?

Not on defense
Total defense:
LSU #35
Texas A&M #49
It seems like we've been wayyyyyyyyyyyy worse though.

I.e. Chablis saw they were done with miles so he moved on.

He would have stayed had Alleva removed the Mile's Clause from the contract.
He loved LSU, but he also saw the waning faith the admins had in Miles and wanted job security.
When Alleva told him he wouldn't take out the clause, he said frick you and went to A&M.
It sucks how it happened because he was legit as hell.
But he wanted to stay if Mile's left/ fired and we weren't gonna let him do that.

He is a good coach about basic technique and also with discipline. This just shows how bad your D was and really still is. That's what I'm talking about. If you think you have a great D, you're a homer. Is it improved, yes. I agree, he's improved it. Yes, he's a good coach. No, he's not a great D mind. Easily figured out and outsmarted. He is not the answer to a program like yours with that kind of money. He will be replaced. Your head coach could be toast, too, in the same time frame. Whoever comes in to replace him, if that scenario plays out, would also not retain him. A&M has the money to shoot for the stars. They're not going to tolerate funks your team goes through every mid season or so.

but it was ok because they got steele and o and RECRUITING!

It was known from the start of his fiasco, that he wanted more security feeling Miles would possibly be gone before his deal was up.
