I don't really see how beating Tulane helps the possibility of going bowling? Unless your just looking at how a loss would kill the chance, I suppose(you are not going to lose to them).

Pretty good chance for Ole Miss to make a bowl.

I can't comprehend how getting buttfricked by Texas means it's time for rampant optimism.

Ole Miss would have to take 3 of 5 toss-up type games and sorry but that's a very generous interpretation of toss-up. I would say you have about a 40% chance of winning 3 of those games. Regardless good luck.

That's what I was thinking.

I'm actually a little nervous about this weekend.

Well...it gets us halfway to 6 wins, which is usually what you need to get to a bowl game. Those other teams I listed, possibly being the other 3 wins.

Arkansas and State will both win handily

Vandy has come out much weaker than I thought this year, and auburn is just sad.

5 wins I'd say is very possible, I just can't see 6.

Agree with this for the most part... other than I think people are overreacting to Auburn's early season struggles. Auburn is going to be an entirely different animal by the time OM sees them. That is a very talented team that is adjusting to an entirely new style of play. Like I've been saying since the summer, I am very glad we got them early. They are going to be formidable by the end of the season this year, at least on D and in the run game. I'm not really looking forward to seeing them next year.

Arkansas got skull fricked by USC in 06 and won the west. One game doesn't determine how a season will turn out.

I'm sure State wouldn't have faired much better. But they will never play a team like Texas out of conference, i forgot. How about they put a real schedule together.

I know. Nothing makes sense anymore, and there's a good chance it will continue.

It's not getting beat by Texas that sparks "rampant optimism", it's seeing other teams on our schedule play.

Do you have a memory longer than 2 years?

In the past 10 years we've played home and aways with West Virginia, Houston, Georgia Tech, and Oregon.

It wasn't long ago that ole miss played 2 FCS opponents in the same year.

It's just one game... why the tunnel vision? Matchups can be bad or good any given week. We probably couldn't have played any worse on defense. Texas is pretty good.

Not sure how 6 wins is rampant optimism... 7 or 8 wins would be more pie-in-the-sky IMO.

Tulane - God awful football team
Bama - unbeatable
Gerogia - unbeatable
LSU - unbeatable
Arkansas - terrible defense, anything could happen
Auburn - terrible offense, anything could happen
Vandy - meh all around, anything could happen
TAMU - who really knows they've only played 2 games
MSU - they did blow out Jackson State, a below-average Auburn team, and dominated Troy by 6 points, so I guess we have no chance

So we basically have 5 games and need to win 3 to go bowling. Not completely unrealistic. I expect to win 2.

Still early in the season so injuries could be your saving grace, but I don't see you guys beating Miss St. or Arkansas under any circumstances. Vandy and Auburn you'll probably split, but you could easily lose them both.

There's a talent disparity with you guys and Auburn and a coaching/scheme/QB disparity with you guys and Vandy.

Freeze is a good coach so who knows, maybe your team will turn into giant killers.

Just because Arkansas looked like crap without Wilson against Alabama, that's still an 8 win team with Wilson, those WRs and that RB.

I wouldn't get my hopes up vs. A&M either...

I got a friend that layed a good chunk on under 5.5 wins before the season started and I thought it was an excellent play,

Well since 'Dan the Man' got there, State hasn't played a formidable out of conference opponent. Another reason why he is overrated.
