Austin
Nashville
Atlanta
Tallahassee
Baton Rouge
Lexington (I'm an idiot, Frankfort is the Capitol and this probably knocks it below LR)
Little Rock
Columbia
Montgomery
Jackson
Jefferson City

I've never been to Jefferson City or Tallahassee, but Jefferson City seems like a Midwest version of Jackson and Tallahassee gets some respect for having FSU and being the capital of such a large state. Little Rock and Columbia were almost too close to call.

I think I'd put Columbia above LR

Have you been to Lexington? That place sucked. There are some cool things (keeneland) around it and the hills are beautiful, but if we are giving credit for that, then being next to NOLA and the coast far outweigh those.

Been to Lexington 3 times and Baton Rouge 4 or 5 times.

Much prefer Lexington. Prettier scenery, nicer people, better weather, less corrupt government. Baton Rouge has better food, and it's not really close, but I'd say Lexington is more well rounded and except on College Football Saturdays, the place I'd rather be between the two.

Edited. Embarrassing. For both me and the state of Kentucky.

Nope, just you brah. Lexington hasn't been the state capitol since 1790 or so.

I've been to eight of those and Little Rock is by far the worst.

I've only driven through part of Jefferson City and I was drunk, but no way it's worse than Jackson.

ETA, rode in the car with someone, didn't "drive", just to clarify.

Id say that list is pretty close. I haven't been to Austin yet though so id move nashville and Atlanta over it.

I might put Jackson last just because its Jackson.

ATL in the top #3?!?!? Are you crazy? Are you a fan of Baltimore as well?

Jefferson City

Jeff City isn't necessarily like the other capitals on this list. Basically, it's a small town that is only the capital based on it's geographical location set by the state constitution.

As of the 2010 census, its population was 43,079, making it the 15th largest city in the state, so it's much smaller than the other SEC capitals on the list. There's nothing really all that spectacular about being here unless you're involved in government work. One thing we do have going for us is our proximity to COMO (20 mins), the Lake of the Ozarks (30 mins), and pretty much central to KC and StL.

In 2013, Jefferson City was named America's "Most Beautiful Small Town" by Rand McNally, so we've got that going for us.

Carry on.....

I don't see a city that really belongs ahead of it. Plus I just include Gods country of the northern ATL suburbs. Which when doing that makes it number 1

I think that's pretty fair and you're the only person to see something wrong with it. Buckhead is a great area and it has all of the big city accommodations. I wouldn't ever choose to live there, but its higher on my list than every city below it.

Please, put your own list together.
