Ellis Johnson and every other defensive coordinator under Gus didn't just forget how to coach defense. It will be sad to see what the once great boom defense will become working along side Malzahn's offense. Boom's coaching stock will plummet faster than you can say hurry up no huddle.

RIP boom defense

Who knows? Maybe they will match up really well.

It is sad, a coaching career cut down in its prime.

I never though that Kiffin and Saban would match up scheme or personality wise....

ill say if he had an actual offer from houston to be HC, then taking the auburn job is retarded (assuming he ever wants to be a HC again). malzahn in his core doesnt really care about defense, and is incapable of working out an overall team strategy where the offense and defense function together. he makes good DCs look terrible. I guess you could consider muschamp a very good/great DC, so im guessing hes gonna look pretty average operating next to malzahn.

It's a good hire by Auburn and a poor career decision by Muschamp.

It is possible to be both you know. The only way this makes any sense is if Muschamp has no desire to be a head coach again.

You do realize that an "average" defense has gotten us two SEC titles, two NC games, and one NC win with Malzahn's offense don't you? I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. That may be all we need.
