Can we just give Ole Miss the death penalty already?

I don't know why they're trying to only do bowl bans.
The stuff that happened at Ole Miss was worse than what happened at SMU back in the day. Ole Miss deserves the death penalty. Really wish we would just kick them out of the conference for their herendous acts, but there's probably agreements that say otherwise.
Comon NCAA, just do it already.

If we kicked them out, someone else would get to torture them on a daily basis. They're ours to torture.

If Penn State didn't get the death penalty, then no institution will ever again no matter what they do.

They've proven we have given out about $20K in improper benefits, not sure that's death penalty worthy. Obviously we all know we've done more than that and that's why the penalties will be severe, but based on what's been proven it's nothing compared to what has happened at Baylor, Penn State, and Louisville. Hell, there's accusations that Hernandez murdered someone while at Florida and other Florida players knew about it. All those guys played for Florida after it happened. Think giving a kid some free stuff is worse than that?

Nice deflection using shite that isn't even true. You guys cheated and deserve every bit of this. Don't try to deflect.

This is laughably wrong.
Penn St. didn't have serious NCAA violations. They have much, much worse in the form of human rights violations and abhorrent crimes, but the NCAA far over reached their jurisdiction.
If a team was caught on video or in a similar "red handed" way of buying cars for multiple kids or something like that and it was proven the head coach and AD knew it was going on, it might get the death penalty.
It might never happen, but Penn St. is a horrible example. The NCAA should probably not have been involved.

He's not deflecting that we deserved to be punished, just that if rape doesn't get you the death penalty then 20k alleged benefits shouldn't but ok, you obviously didn't read the allegations just the headlines.

Stop being so sensitive, dude said they probably did more than what the NCAA is charging them with. How is that deflecting.

What happened at Penn State is a billion times more egregious than what happened at Ole Miss. HOWEVER, we're talking about different crimes here, Penn State wasn't paying players, thus the NCAA has little authority to impose sanctions on them.
Right or wrong, it's reality. Now, personally, I think their football program SHOULD have been shut down and everyone who knew what happened should have been thrown in jail, but the NCAA doesn't have that power in this case.

not even close.
The SMU AD was writing personal checks to recruits/players.

Again, rape (when a player commits it) is a criminal matter that NCAA really doesn’t get involved in, unless it can be proven that administrators/coaches actively tried to conceal evidence of the crime.

Damn this sucks. My football program got caught cheating and is screwed, but that's not nearly as sad as having a guy with the time to post almost 70,000 times on this website and has a girl he jerks off to as his picture call me a fig OM fan. I've definitely hit rock bottom.
Again, I'm aware we cheated and probably did a lot worse than what is proven, but what has been proven does not warrant the death of the football program. While I hope they take the 1 year bowl ban, I do think the NCAA will make it 2 years if we don't fire everybody. But at the end of the day, far worse things are happening from the UNC academic issues to Baylor covering up rape. If they give us the death penalty, it sets a precedent before they rule on UNC and Baylor and NO CHANCE they want to hurt UNC basketball.

If Ole Miss paid 15k to lose a recruit, how much did they pay for that top 5 class?

Exactly. Organizations enforcing rules should always have a defined scope. You don't get to just make up what to do as you go along. The NCAA was not created to hold universities responsible for an individual's criminal conduct. It was created to establish consistent rules across member institutions for athletics.
They do a shitty job of holding to a scope and maintaining consistency. But at least that's what they are SUPPOSED to do. The Penn State situation was bungled idiotically. They hammer Penn State for someone that has nothing to do with athletics, then they reverse course and eliminate all the penalties.
