I can answer your question with a little bit of simple conjecture based on how "The Chief" and his defense performed at LSU.
He doesn't have the same talent to work with at A&M that he had at LSU, but he will improve the players, and the defense will get better. However, just like other anonymous SEC head coaches have stated, his defensive schemes are predictable, and will let the the Aggies down in late game situations, just as they did at LSU.

Thanks for your interest in the Program.
We hired a coach this offseason from a school in Louisiana. We think he might be pretty good. He has our db's playing closer to the line of scrimmage, is utilizing fewer schemes and packages, and seems to think we can be a much better defense.
We're pretty excited and can't wait to see the product in the fall. It's even sweeter because he is a quality human being. He's a guy you can count on, as long as you don't try to screw him around.
