So I get that Kenny Rogers had his little college/athlete matching program.

Bill Bell was supposedly going to be the "money" right? The 180k would have come from him?

I see that John Bond used to play at MSU, but what was his connection to this story?

Bell is either a contractor or a real estate guy in the Florida panhandle. So he would be, my guess, where the money would come from.

Bond is a former QB at MSU, was teammates with Rogers. Not sure of his connection to Bell, but maybe he was the mutual friend that could introduce Rogers to Bell.

Yea? Link me. I've read every thread on this board.

I know John Bond owns a construction company. I know John Bond reported stuff to MSU.

I'm trying to figure out his connection to Bill Bell/Kenny Rogers, other than the fact that they just knew each other. Kenny was the go between, Bill Bell was the money guy...what did John Bond have to do with it besides the fact that he knew about it?

My question is: Why would Rogers know to call Bill Bell? Has he done this before?

Bell is a wealthy MSU alum aka booster. Supposedly he is the one that has the tapes of the telephone convos.

Bond is a former player at MSU. Hes the VP of a construction company. Which means he has money and is likely a booster as well.

According to Rogers interview yesterday..

Rogers, Bell, and Bond all played at MSU together in the early 80s.

Bell owns a construction/roofing company in Destin Florida. I'm not sure exactly what Bond is doing today, but I think he lives in Madison, MS. I dont think he OWNS his own company, because I have friends that are close to his boss, anyway..

Cecil Newton wanted money and contacted Kenny Rogers. Rogers went on Newton's official visit to Starkville for the Egg Bowl.

After it, Newton letit be known he'd want 100K-180K for Cameron to sign. Rogers called Bell, Bell called Bond. Bond contacted then MSU AD Greg Byrne, and it got turned in to the SEC.

Ok. So, that makes Rogers think he can get this kind of money from him? To buy a player?

Gotcha. Follow up:

If Bell didn't really know anyone at MSU (as Bond said Bell said), why did Rogers call Bell?
