Can anyone make a rational argument that Auburn should stay in the west?

Serious question.

Why should auburn stay in the west when 3/4 of our traditional sec rivalries are in the east? We are geographically in the east. SOS in the east teams would go up by having to play us instead of Mizzou. Travel times for auburn fans, Mizzou fans, and SECe fans would all improve. Also, I think Auburn fans realize the Sec east will eventually get back to what it was.. it would be an insanely stupid idea to get an easier schedule because it would only be a short term solution. If we wanted an easier path to the natty we would join the acc

I know the only reason is TSIO. Growing up in Birmingham an Auburn fan, there's no way I want us to ditch bama. Neither does our AD.

Hopefully Gus and other coaches can agree on a 9 game conference schedule so this can happen. I am in agreement with Saban. Other conferences do it. It would result in more SEC games (who the frick wouldn't want that) and less shite games against creampuffs.

But any reason as to why we should stay in the west?

The only logical reason is that 3 of the top 6 programs are in the East and the other 3 are in the west.

That's not enough of an argument IMO. They should move to the East. It just makes too much sense geographically.

Just don't frick up the schedules any more than they already are. This is A&M's 6th season in the SEC and we have to wait for another 8 or so to play in Athens. WTF.

Because Auburn fans need something other than Alabama to obsess about for a few months out of the year.

I thought UT lost its Big 6 status.

It would give them a better chance to win in the East.

Again, that's not really the point. Auburn fans have way stronger connections to Florida and Tennessee than we do to lsu, Msu, etc. Move to a 9 game schedule and keep the iron bowl.

And there is your rational. Don't frick up 13 other schedules to make yours better.

You are going to have a tough time getting SEC East schools to agree to this one with ACC rivals locking up their schedules. It basically eliminates OOC options for those schools.

All of the SEC East ADs and Alabama will oppose AU moving to the East, most likely.

All of this is fixed with a 9 game schedule.

So simple, yet so difficult to fix.

How? It would only happen if the iron bowl is kept which means Auburn would have the chance to play Bama twice.

I'm all for it.

Will say that a number of SEC schools have OOC rivals though.

South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky all have schools that will remain as opponents.

So a 9 game schedule means we all have 10 games a year spoken for, with no latitude for scheduling a team from the PAC or something, or a North Carolina school in South Carolina's case.

Kind of suspect that one day Texas will be back on A&M's schedule, and maybe Kansas on Missouri's.

Also be good to see Miami back on Florida's, but well, you know, Florida whines.

No one can. TSIO is a lopsided shite show. And God who wants to go to Columbia and College Station.
