Bill Battle is a place holder to just keep the money maker going. The real athletic decision maker is the next AD. Who will be hired when the new president is announced this summer.

So does that mean no one will be hired until after the new President is selected?
If they make a hire before then, Battle will have been at the helm of two pretty big hires for Alabama sports.

jesus christ, troll
you're better than this
bama is in the SEC, which has become the mecca of college baseball even more in recent years

That's the big question. Battle is 72 years old. He's obviously a short term place holder. His background with CLC got him the gig.

Well. 2006 is more recent than 1945. Enough hyperbole.
The point is that, as is typical for an alabama fan, you dramatically overestimate how much "history" matters.
In state talent, money for assistants, fan support, and facilities are what potential coaches care about. History usually comes along with all those things but not always.

Bama should hire Casey Dunn. He good.

So the point still stands that Alabama is showing a commitment to baseball again. That starts with facilities and should continue with coaching contracts.
There's also a plethora of talent in a 500 mile radius of central Alabama.

I guess time will tell.
SEC baseball, unlike basketball, is very good.

Ok facilities is one but will all that talent want to go to alabama to play in front of 2,000 people if they are good enough to get a scholarship offer from one of the heavy hitters in the south? Maybe some but it's a big strike against you. None of these puns are intended btw.

Alabama averaged over 7500 fans in the old Sewell-Thomas as recently as 2013. And routinely finished top ten, nationally, in attendance prior to our recent struggles.

you do realize they played in hoover, right?

More like 25. We played in Hoover all year. Fans also quit two years ago. Which is the point of this thread.

So typical bama that only reps the script a when the team is good? Yeah that's attractive to recruits

That's the script most athletic programs rep. Does LSU expand Tiger Stadium in 1999?

We did expand Tiger Stadium in 1999

Well. 2000, but you get the point. LSU football wasn't significant in the 1990s.

No construction started in 1999. It opened in 2000.

Maybe football isn't the best correlation, considering Alabama expanded as well when Mike Shula was head coach. But we are getting away from my thesis.
