Can a non-finese or non-gimicky Arkansas team succeed?

The SEC Is rough. Alabama and LSU can get away with physical offense because of their talent. Can Arkansas?
In 1998, Arkansas was a pass first team with Stoerner. Slipped up vs. the Vols and State

In 2006 Arkansas had a "gimmicky" offense, no explanation needed

In 2010-2011 Arkansas was a nice little pass first finesse team that could beat Auburn/State, but could not stand up to the powerful teams like Auburn and Alabama

Now Bert has them mean and physical. They are tough, even at 7 wins

But can Bert win big with a power run game in Arkansas? And no hog fans, 8 wins is not winning big.

Can it be done in Fayetteville?

Probably not. Just doesn't recruit at a high enough level. They'll be tough, always play hard, ruin some peoples seasons, but I doubt they can win a national title with the rate at which they recruit.

Well, we went 5-3 in the SEC West with terrible defensive play last season..

We were 3 points from being 7-1 (OT against A&M and 1 point loss to Miss State)

2006, the offense wasn't as good as 2007 tbh, it was the defense that was key.

Mainly we just need to improve our defense and we'll be in position.

Just need a few more players and regardless of recruit rankings, he's doing a pretty good job...I think he can...Can't have slip-ups against bullshite teams

They run a power offense now and doing a good job with it. LSU never looks very physical when they play Alabama. they didn't look as physical as Arkansas did

They are a solid team in a rough division. They needed a miracle 4th and 25 to even get to their first 7 win regular season under Bielema.

I think he will make them a formidable thorn in the conferencene's side, but I don't see them getting to Atlanta any time soon.

Besides that whole thing about their offense really taking off when they started hammering Knile Davis up the middle in the run game, sure.

He ran for 1300+ yards and 13 TDs in 2010. As a team, they averaged 33 runs per game for 150 yards. Petrino's offenses have always been at their best when they feature the run game. His best Louisville offense was the one with Michael Bush steamrolling people.

I was thinking more historically. Arkansas was better than LSU last year as we know

That is a relative question.

Based on Arkansas fans expectations, a consistent 6-7 game winning season would be successful to them. So in that case the answer is Yes.

You didn't score a TD last time we played?

Was that physical enough for you?

We have wrinkles but not gimmicky...a few special team tricks and the play against LSU with the bobble snap fake Thad led to an INT

CBB has Arkansas right where he wanted them after three years. You better come ready for a head knocker from now on. YOu wont see another Toledo/TT debacle. He won 5 in the SEC last year and could have been that many the year before with a bounce or two our way. He averages 8-9 wins a year and make a run at playoffs/SEC Champ every 3-4 years, much like Nutt did, Arkansas fans should be happey.
