After Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton scored a touchdown against Green Bay during an NFL game on Sunday, Packers outside linebacker Julius Peppers ended up with the ball. Newton makes a point of presenting his TD footballs to children in the stands, but Peppers wouldn't cooperate. With the former Auburn star asking him for the ball back, Peppers instead winged it to a ballboy near the sideline.

Newton ran the ball down and gave it to a kid anyway – a boy wearing the No. 14 of Carolina backup QB Joe Webb, a former Wenonah High School and UAB star.

And is 6-year-old Colin Toler ever glad he did. So is Colin's family.

Newton was unaware Colin was attending his first NFL game on Sunday. Colin's dad had planned to take him to a Carolina game, but a heart condition took 32-year-old Ben Toler's life on Sept. 30.

On Sunday, Colin and his grandfathers drove from Danville, Va., to the Panthers' game, sitting in end-zone seats purchased for them by family friends.

Cam is the man... seriously, people give him shite, but he seems like a really good guy. Goes out of his way to make people in Charlotte happy.

Cam Newton at Auburn was incredibly despicable.

Cam Newton in the NFL is likable.

I saw that. Awesome thing to do. He even chased after the ball to give to him.

Props to Newton. Easy to hate while at AU, easy to like in the pros.

Besides the fact he played at Auburn, why was he so despicable?

Don't dislike this guy anymore. He is one of those guys that you look past where he played in college.

Didn't he rip down a fan's sign at the same game? So classy.

Ehhh, it was kind of funny. If I was a Carolina fan, it would make me happy.
