Cam Newton or Zach Mettenberger - Most preseason hype ?

I know the Auburn faithful were pretty high on Cam. Did they hype him more than LSU fans have hyped Zac Mettenburger?

Why is it every time I see Mettenberger's name brought up, it's not from an LSU fan?

If you ever went to ITAT, they had some posters claiming Heisman for Cam. (of course they would over there)
I really think most took a wait and see attitude with very high hopes.
LSU fans (not all) have been as outspoken about Mettenberger as any player I can ever remember.
They're putting way too much pressure on this kid. If he has some growing pains the meltdown could be epic.

I'm pretty sure Cam was in a fight for the starting QB spot going into the season (or at least that's how the coaches made it seem), whereas Mettenberger has been the heir apparent since he stepped on campus.

As much as I like to hate on my aubren brothers, they seemed more realistic in their expectations than the LSU fans. (as a whole)
Heck, I don't think the Auburn coaches knew just how good Cam was gonna be until the no contact jersey came off, and that was about 2nd or 3rd game of the season.

Why shouldn't LSU fans have high expectations? We have almost the same team that got us to the big game last year plus a cupcake schedule without Oregon and West Virginia games on the road.

Most AU folks were very unsure about what Cam would be like. I had had high hopes after hearing about how good he was, then at A-Day they really didn't let him do much of anything (I think he had one decent pass, but that was it) so everyone was meh. Then with the coach speak in fall, I didn't expect anything really extraordinary, and to be honest, I am not really sure our coaches did either.
Heck, even in the season, if you watch the first 3 or 4 games of 2010 (MSU, USCe, Clemson), we did not exploit Cam's abilities at all like what we did later in the year. I think it took everyone a little bit to figure out just what kind of player we had on our hands.
