I'm interested in your thoughts on both of your teams '15 season.

Florida - First, I'll admit you guys have owned our arse the past 10 years, (and even more before the steak) but this thread isn't about that. I'm curious to know how you feel about McElwain, what your projected '15 record will be, strengths & weaknesses, and how you feel about the Tennessee game at home this year.

Arkansas - Props to a very impressive '14 season, which opened my eyes. Beating Ole Miss and LSU made me believe that CBB will win games at Ark. But, what is the feeling on the '15 season? What's the standard? How big of a game is the Tennessee game this year to you all and how do you think it'll end up? What do you have returning? Arks' OL vs our D front 7 will be fun to watch.

The reason I ask is because I think Tennessee has a chance to win both of these games, and winning both could propel us to making a SEC East run.

Thanks guys.

Strengths - Defense especially the secondary. UF TEs in McElwain's offense are going to surprise the SEC.

Weaknesses - Depth, especially OL and LB. LB is not as big of a deal as OL because UF will be nickel most of the time.

Tennessee game - The last two years were the Vols chance in my opinion.

I think Ark is a team that CAN win 10 games next year but we pretty much were this year as well. Whether they will or not will depend on whether or not they've learned to eliminate the idiotic mistakes that single handedly cost us the Bama, A&M, Miss St games and so on.

Losing Philon, Flowers and Spaight sucks and their replacements likely won't be as good HOWEVER literally every other position on defense other than those 3 will be improved significantly. Our defense will be legit. And there's no excuse for the offense to not be legit with our o-line being mainly the same, TE and RBs being the same and receivers adding a good amount of talent and a 5th year QB that's done nothing but improve steadily. Plus a new OC that hopefully won't call a double reverse on the 5 yard line or a toss sweep that never gains yards.

I'm psyched about the Tenn game. I'll be up there for it. I'm excited to see our secondary against your receivers.

Quite honestly, we are replacing 3 very good players in Flowers, Philon and Spaight from last season...that's it. That won't be an easy task, but our lines are the deepest they have been on either side of the ball in years...

DC Robb Smith was asked how he'll replace a player like Spaight, but then pointed out that he's had an all-conference selection at his position the last 3 years (Tampa, Rutgers and Arkansas) so it seems that he's pretty good with the X's and O's.

I think the expectation this year is to challenge for the West. It won't be an easy task, with road games at Bama, OM and LSU.

However, we have a 5th year SR QB with 2 future NFL RB's, a strong OL and Defense that should still be pretty damn good in 2015.

It's a big game for sure...We are still building and this would be another nice step in the right direction.

I like our chances

I think our offense will be a little looser this year and the playing calling will open up a bit. Our 2 TE sets will be amazing this year especially if we establish the run. I expect a lot of big plays from those.
WR is a question mark. I have no idea what type of production we will get from that.

I'm hoping play calling will improve. Chaney made several bonehead calls (IMO) last year that put us in bad situations.

I’m a little concerned with loosing Philon and Flowers. We were able to get a lot of pressure out of our front 4 down the stretch last year which made the secondary look great. If we can’t produce that same amount of pressure this year then we won’t be able to play as much zone and eliminate big plays. I’m not sure how the secondary will respond to playing more man if we do. That’s a big unknown for me.

We return basically everything on offense. The only regular starters that we lost is our starting RT and our #2 TE. We were primarily in 12 personnel last year and our #2 TE, AJ Derby, was a big part of our scheme. However, Jeremy Sprinkle will be taking his place and he has been working his way up through the system for the past three years. He is faster than Derby so he will be a different kind of threat than Derby was in the passing game. The question will be can he block as well as Derby did in his short time at TE.

We also have a new OC this season in Dan Enos. According to virtually every player interview that I've seen over the past few weeks, the run scheme is exactly the same while he has expanded the passing concepts that we utilize. Hopefully, we see an increase in our passing efficiency to keep folks from stacking the box against us all season long.

Defense is where we will be questionable early in the season. We are only replacing four players on our defense from last year but three of them were our top three players last year. That will be a tough task to overcome but there probably wasn't a person in the country that would have predicted Robb Smith could have turned a defense ranked in the 70's the previous year in to a top 10 defense.

We shifted our two year starting MLB over to Will where he will be replacing Martrell Spaight who lead the SEC in tackles last year. Will is the focal point of Smith's defense and is honestly the more natural position for Brooks Ellis so this could turn out to be a very good move for us if another LB steps up along side him. He has really been out of position at MLB the past two years but he was really our only option there. Our backup MLB, Josh Williams, has now moved up to the starting role there and then Sophomore Khalia Hackett out of Georgia will be playing the Sam. When we go to Nickel it will be Ellis and Hackett on the field.

DL is probably going to be a rotating unit but is probably the deepest across those two lines as we have ever been in my lifetime. I'm excited to see what they can do this week and who will step up in place of Flowers and Philon. Right now they don't have a set group of 1's so it's tough to give you an exact update there.

I think this game is just as big for us as it is for you. We have to win on the road if we are going to continue moving forward under Bielema.

Hopefully, us catching you early in the year will be beneficial and a lot of your younger guys won't be clicking yet. I give a slight edge to Tennessee due to it being in Knoxville but if our veteran offense isn't rattled early by the environment then I can see us pulling this one out.

I have to agree with what my fellow Hog fans have said. Our defense may still be trying to find one or two pieces to the puzzle when we play the Vols. I pray that our offense will be better under Enos, or, at least, that we don't run quadruple throwback reverses combined with a statue of liberty play inside the five yard line like our last OC was so fond of.

If the two teams that finished the season for the Vols and Hogs show up for that game it should be a great one. I think it is marginally more important for the Vols then the Hogs though... the Vols have a shot at winning the East while we probably aren't quite there in the West. Unless Mizzou just completely jumps the tracks this year you can't afford to drop many conference games if you want to win the East.

I think they are looking at Hackett as the MLB and moved Williams to SAM to play closer to the line.

Did they? All I had heard was they replaced Williams in the Nickel with Hackett. Either way is fine with me. I think the Ramsey will end up being a factor as well once he gets settled.

Arksulli and Cheshire fall under the category of realistic, they're good posters in general, but the majority of other Hog fans on here..fall closer to the category of surrealistic.

I think the UT game is very pivotal. We should be 3-0 heading in to a stretch that goes like this: A&M @Cowboy Stadium, @ UT, @ Bama, Auburn at home. That UT game is big for us. We need to go 2-2 in that 4 game stretch if we are going to have a good/great year.
I love how our offense is looking with a 5th year SR.QB, 2 stud RB's, quality TE's and an OL that should be much improved from last year. If we can get someone to step up at WR we should be a really good offense.

We are in the off season to be honest. You don't want to go full on obnoxious too early and run out of steam half way through the season. Got to pace yourself.

I like Coach Mac so far. He's been dealt a shite hand with the OL numbers, so I'm not expecting us to be anything special in year one. 6-6 to 8-4.

Our strength is definitely our defense, specifically the secondary and DL. We'll be in nickel the majority of the time, which should help us to mask our thin LB corps.

On offense, most of us are just looking for improvment week to week. Will Grier and Treon looked solid in the spring game, but that should be taken with a grain of salt. Our OL is thin with 6 scholarship players right now, but we signed 6 OL this last class, so reinforcements are on the way. Look for Martez Ivey to be a virtual starter as soon as he steps on campus. At WR, we only have 1 proven guy in D-Rob, but besides him, we're pretty devoid of talent. Ahmad Fulwood and Brandon Powell have showed flashes, so I expect them to be the other 2 guys on the outside. TE looked promising this spring, with Deandre Goolsby and Cy'ontai Lewis looking the part. We also have Jake McGee, Virginia transfer, who was injured this past year in the 1st quarter of the first game.

I expect UT-UF to be close. Your offense is obviously at a higher level than ours, but I don't know how much success you'll have running the ball, and our DB's aren't no joke. You're defense will shut us down a large part of the game though. Will probably be a 21-17 type game.

I watched your spring game the other day and would agree that the TE's look good. I would imagine they will be a focal point of the passing game this season. You can really do a lot with Goolsby in regards to scheme. I really wish we hadn't lost out on him to you guys. He's going to be a good one.
