"Wait, there can't be three SEC teams in the Elite Eight. No way. That's a bad league".

I don't get the hate for Calipari. His personality is refreshingly candid in a world of coach speak.

SEC basketball - both men's and women's - has been severely underrated for more than a decade. Hell, probably longer than that. I think it's the rest of country's way of coping with the football dominance that started with the first BCS and has continued through the CPF.

Cal knew the league was tough. UT proved that against UK in Knoxville.

SEC fans were complaining all year about the refs calling touch fouls but they weren't touch at all. They were hard jamming fouls.

Physical play was the rule in the conference all year. South Carolina may have benefitted most from it. What a defense!

It has more to do with the one step ahead of the law job hopping he got away with than anything else. He got away with a ton of shite before the NCAA changed the rules and stopped coaches from being able to run from infractions by adding responsibility and punishments to them directly. People don't like him for that reason. Adding that past to taking on the role of HC at a program like UK makes him comic book level villain.

I get it with what has happened in his wake at other schools. People think he bitches too much. But the guy is a marketing major and knows how to push a program and a conference with the media. Especially in a day and age when the media can influence your seeding, your conference perception, etc.

I think some think it's self serving, but I think he knows iron sharpens iron and it benefits all of us for the SEC to have a positive reputation on the hardwood.

Or just the desperation to keep at least one ACC team in it. It's still shitty.
