For the first time in history, all teams in a division will be ranked in the Top 25 when the SEC West does it this week.

I can't imagine Mississippi State being ranked.

I'm not buying ... MSU won't be top 25 and they don't deserve to be... Silver lining is it's week 2 and MSU wasn't ranked this time last year either.

Sell. State shouldn't be ranked. Which poll are you going to use though?

State was 26 and A&M was 27 in the preseason poll. Three teams in the bottom 10 lost.
I think A&M comes in about 19 and State sneaks in at 25. Playing late on an obscure network helps MSU because voters didn't see that shitfest.

One of those was Wisconsin and they might not drop far because of who they played.
I could see Utah getting bumped up over MSU

Also, Northwestern could get a nice bump up.

And State slipped into the AP poll. All seven teams ranked.

Had a conversation a couple years ago with one of the poll administrators that explained how the things worked.
Basically, top 10 is hype based.
11-25 most voters just fill in the blanks. State was 26th and three spots opened up. A&M was in, everyone saw Utah beat Michigan on Thursday night. it was just a matter of whether Arizona State dropped out. No one saw the MSU game, they saw that they won by 3 touchdowns and Dak Prescott leads the SEC in total offense again.
When State beats LSU on ESPN Saturday, they'll make a bigger jump because more voters will see them. That's how State made the leap last year - they started 3-0, but they beat LSU and went from unranked to top 15. Then had the back to back hyped games and made the run to #1.
Almost impossible to drop a team from #1 when they win, but no problem dropping a team from #16 to #19 after an ugly win. We had ugly wins against Kentucky, a near loss to Arkansas but stayed #1 until the loss to Bama.
