I thought he had no business in their team huddle. I thought it kind of cheezy and classless. Some of you may disagree.
But here he is congratulating them, and if i was one of them I would be thinking...
What the hell do you want? You didn't think I was good enough to recruit me! You didn't respect us! And we beat your overrated A$$ the entire game.
Maybe I have the wrong take, but I think he had no business addressing them.

yeah I think it was a nice idea, but this wasn't the David and Goliath he wanted. That team is really solid, and didn't need a hug for almost beating his team. Did he get to congratulate players in the regular time?

I don't think they were ready to stomach a nice moral victory boys. They wanted that W and not happy with a we got close to UT moment.

It was an amateur hour move. Doesn't surprise me because Butch is a clown who cares way too much about pulling little publicity stunts like that.

Yeah, he should have addressed them through their coach (if at all). Opposing coaches have no business in the huddle at any time.
App State's coach should have asked to do the same thing, and congratulated Tennessee players for playing with heart and coming back from a deficit at home in front of a sold out crowd to win the game in OT.

It would have been more appropriate if App State had fought hard all game and then UT pulled away in the 4th. The fluke win in OT certainly didn't warrant such a response.
