Breaking down Auburn's schedule

As we all know, Auburn is the favorite this year to win the West, and rightfully so. They have the next Cam at QB, a proven play caller in Gus Malzahn, and one of the nation's best defensive coordinators.
However, there has been a lot of talk about their schedule being easy, so let's take a closer look.
Louisville (Atlanta)
Jacksonville State
@Lsu
Mississippi State
San Jose State
BYE
@Kentucky
@Arkansas
Ole Miss
@A&M
Georgia
Idaho
Alabama
Right off the bat, that road game at Lsu in week 3 doesn't look easy at all. Then you have back to back road games with Kentucky and Arkansas. Auburn should beat Kentucky easily, but playing in Fayetteville the very next week is a tall order. It's tough to win back to back SEC road games for any team.
After a game against Ole Miss on Halloween night, the Tigers have to turn right around and go back on the road against aggy. That's three road games in four weeks. Not an easy schedule at all.
Then of course they have to play the East's best team in Georgia, then the Iron Bowl against another West contender.
In conclusion, Auburn's schedule isn't nearly as easy as everyone has been claiming. Sure they have a cupcake non-con schedule, but the rest is tough. While Auburn may be the favorite in the West, they have a difficult road to Atlanta.

Pretty sure he's now the new Andrew Luck.

I don't know what people have been claiming, but the schedule isn't easy, just more favorable than last season with the way the home and away games work.

Exactly this. But it seems undecided's thread might have struck a nerve. Enough for him to start the 40th thread on the subject.

There are some nasty patches on that schedule and I expect Auburn to slip at least once. That having been said I like Auburn's chances if they manage to make it to the Iron Bowl within striking distance of Bama.

I would've thought it would've been received better as imitation is the greatest form of flattery. There was definitely a sao/latarian tone to his post.

Eh, maybe. Last year you beat Lsu at home and lost to State on the road. Those games are flipped of course. You also beat Ole Miss on the road but lost to aggy at home. Again, those games are flipped this year. Looks like a wash really.

I see 8 potential losses just like almost every other season.

I don't think many (at least from our side) is claiming it's easy. It's just an easier schedule than we had last year. Our two biggest games are at home, so that helps

Right, but you have Lsu, Arkansas and aggy on the road. Tough to chalk those up as guaranteed wins at this point.

Don't think AU will struggle with a rebuilding (?) aggy team
@LSU and Arkansas will be a challenge

Anybody done that?

quote:No one is chalking them up as guaranteed wins, it's just a better draw at home this season vs. last season. Post both road schedules and you will see.
